We have reached that point in our school work this year. Each day, I hear announcements from the boys, letting me know that the end is in sight.
“Only three weeks worth of Spanish lessons left!” or “Just a few more math lessons!”
Yep, while there is still quite of bit of “formal” school work yet to be done this spring, we are definitely seeing the last pages of our books and the last lessons in our computer programs. As much as possible, we’ll take school time outside, where we will work on our garden and read books while lounging on the trampoline.
Church camp applications are being filled out. Summer plans are being made.
Who can help it? It’s 76° outside today!
Ah, but don’t get too excited. There is snow in our five-day forecast and we haven’t finished all the books on our shelves yet. Summer break isn’t here just yet. ;)

We’re excited to start seeing the end of our schoolbooks too! It’s nice when the finished pages are the bigger half of the book! :)
When we start having 70 degree days, I’m as ready as my kiddos for them to be done with books and spending lots of time outside!

It is wonderful here! We are in the 80’s now and I am just drinking it all in! Those pesky math books still have quite a few pages left though. We’ll take them outside… :)

It’s so beautiful outside! We cleaned up the back porch and are spending a lot of time out there!

This is the most difficult time of year. The end is in sight for some areas of school- but some areas we’ve been behind in and it’s so tempting to just STOP.
Fortunately, (or unfortunately), spring still isn’t showing up here, so it’s not like I’m tempted to go outside or anything.

Yes. I understand completely.
Our 2nd to last co-op day was yesterday, so we just entered our last full school work week. Past that we’re down to the remaining math and science classes + a big End-of-Year Celebration that I’m still sewing ballet costumes for. Yikes!
As for the weather….I’m still outside on the back porch working. Other than a few runs inside to start laundry and such, I’ve been planted on the couch here w/ my laptop and binders since my hubby left for work. I think I’m actually ahead of schedule and nearly done w/ class updates, Azure order, etc…..Hmmmm…I wonder if I can bring my sewing machine out here???

Hello Everyone,
I have followed Laura and her site for awhile now. I know you homeschool Laura, I never did. I have 3 girls (2 graduated, and 1 still in school – 6th grade). All my girls had an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) due to their disability of OTHER HEALTH IMPAIRED. My older one struggled in elementary school, and in junior high she was pretty much tutored for the 2 years. In high school, she had a hard time in 9th grade, due to some disturbing emotional trauma..however, she finally found her niche in 10-12th grade in Vocational school with Early Education and Elderly Program.
My 2nd daughter, is quite developmentally delayed and didn’t understand alot of stuff. Her work was drastically modified and she worked as hard as she could, including a senior project and presentation. She also had tutoring throughout school since Kindergarten.
My last daughter is in 6th grade. This is my dilemma. I know alot has changed in the federal program and I am concerned for what will happen to her.
I want to say that all my children have a medical condition that depletes their bodies of energy (mitochondrial myopathy) and heart problems alon with many other things. They miss alot of school, so they are always played catch up.
I feel the urge to homeschool my little (and last)daughter, but not sure how to begin, what do I teach, how I do it. I have been praying for God to help me answer these questions, and I only know a 2 people who homeschool. One I talked to (she gave me a download of education stuff to buy), and the other one said, that my child sounds like a candidate for homeschooling. My daughter has what tutors and teachers call ‘chunks’ of education missing. One year she was absent almost 92 days.
Please help me find my way in this journey. I don’t like seeing her come home from school in tears, because she was absent and has ‘no idea’ what they are doing.
Any input from anyone on this site is appreciated.
Thank you,
Susan

We are SO looking forward to the end! We are figuring out how fast we can finish up things, too. :)
