Gratituesday: Mondays
By
Most people dread Mondays. I’m not one of them. I realized this on Sunday night when I fell into bed, completely exhausted from the weekend. Five soccer games on Saturday; teaching a class, hosting and feeding many people all day Sunday – I love it all. I love it so much I put a lot of myself into it in hopes of making it great. I love the fellowship, the mentoring, the encouragement I receive from being with and worshiping with others.
But by Sunday night I’m so tired I can’t remember my own kids’ names. (Wait, no. That happens on a regular basis. It’s okay. As-Just-El-Mal- whatever their names are. They’re used to it.)
The beauty of a Monday morning for me is knowing that I don’t need to set an alarm. I don’t need to run out the door by whatever-o’clock. I get to ease my family back into a nice routine for the week. We get to read together, study together and reconnect after a full weekend of running.
I love every day of the week for different reasons. But right now I’m very thankful for the refreshment that comes with Mondays. (And I suppose I should also be thankful for the big laundry piles that come with Mondays too.) :)

I kind of like Mondays too…it’s those Thursday’s that we need to be keeping an eye on! :)

I can so relate to this, and treasure this when I start getting irritated by what I wish I was doing. I used to work full time as a hairdresser and 3 years ago, I stopped and started taking care of my kids and my house instead. I now get to sleep in on certain days, and take naps when I can convince everyone to chill for a while. It truly is a wonderful thing, being a mom.

Mondays are one of my favorite days right now b/c it is our homeschool co`op day which is a great way to start the week. :)

My Mondays are similar to yours in that most weekends are hectic so once hubs is off to work and child is off to school, I can assess the weekend damage and reboot for the week.

I lost my job back in July and am still looking for another one. I will say, though, that the joy of the simplicity of Mondays is somthing that I have come to enjoy. I find pleasure in washing and hanging sheets out to dry.

Oh do I remember the days when Monday was a welcome relief from the hectic weekend. I am in a different season of life now so Monday’s aren’t a relief but I am still thankful I have a fresh start to every week. Blessings Laura.

Oh, Laura, I soooo relate to this! I love my weekends with my husband home from work, and I love our Sundays gathered in worship and fellowship with God’s people, but oh how I love Mondays when I can be home. :) Blessings, ~Lisa

off topic… I put my vanilla beans in my vodka last night and have beans left over. I was wondering if you know how to make vanilla bean ice cream? I saw your ice cream recipe and wondered if I could just scrap out the inside of the bean and add it to the recipe. I have looked it up on-line and every recipe has you cook the mixture first. I want to keep my milk and eggs raw, do you have any ideas?

Yes, you can just scrape out the insides and throw it into the raw mixture. SO good!

As I was reading the post I thought it was interesting you were writing your Gratituesday post on Monday. Then I realized that today is Tuesday! It was a long weekend. And I have to admit I am grateful it is Tuesday. LOL

I also love Mondays. Great post :)

I am grateful that I can smell the rain, feel the rain and see the rain, and hear it hitting my windows. I am grateful that my kids are healthy and happy.

Unfortunately, my Mondays are usually filled with work (that I love, but still!), football games, 4-H, or whatever else seems to be going on. But I love Tuesdays. They are my chill day. I get caught up (mostly) on laundry and dishes, and hang out with my 3 year old while his brothers are in school. So today I am thankful for the fall breeze, my little guys smile, and the piles of laundry and dishes. Because those things mean I have food to feed my kids, and clothes to dress them in. Although sometimes I have to remind myself of that!

I’m grateful for my two sons. My husband just deployed for the first time and when I’m missing him, I can look at our kids and see him in their faces. They are the spitting image of their daddy!

I try to never plan anything on Mondays for the very reason of recouping from the weekend. I love to get out and do things, but I also love to stay home and not ‘have’ to go anywhere.

Thanks for the great perspective!

I love reading these hopeful posts because I am STRUGGLING as my daughter and I are in the early stages of homeschooling. It is so hard a lot of the time but I am trying hard to see the good and not just the bad. Unfortunately it seems the struggle is more prevalent than the joy lately……

Mondays are great, my daughter calls me after work and fills me in on her weekend and week ahead.

For years I have felt like the gerbil wheel started running on Monday morning and I just kept going until sometime on Friday when it would throw me off. Thanks for the reminder to find something “favorite” about every day. I am pretty sure that won’t be hard at all. Love the encouragement.

Hmmm. I don’t know if I have a favorite day of the week. I guess it would depend. But I can agree, sometimes weekends are so busy that it’s nice to take a breather on Monday!
