I’ve been trying to decide what to write about today, the Gratituesday before Thanksgiving. It seems like I should write about something deep and tear-jerking…Thursday is Thanksgiving after all. I can’t possibly just write about how I’m thankful for warm socks or fingernail clippers…it’s the Gratituesday before Thanksgiving…I need to write about something BIG, right?
But if I write about how I’m thankful for Jesus and His sacrifice for me, it may just sound like I wrote that because I had to, even though I would absolutely write it from my heart. And how could I not write about how I’m thankful for my incredible husband? Of course, I’d need to go on and on about how my boys give me so much joy and how I’m so glad God gave them to me.
But then there’s my nice, big house. And the wonderful family and friends that bless me continually. And we always have plenty of food and we have quilts and a fireplace and furniture and books and wow…have you seen my new purse?
And what about my church family? What would I do without my church family? I’d hate to leave them out…this Gratituesday before Thanksgiving. It would be tough, though, to do without our reliable mini-van and all the hand-me-downs our family receives to clothe our boys. But do you know how many Bibles we have in our house? And how lovely it is that even though our bedroom is torn up right now and undergoing renovations, we still have a comfortable bed in another room to sleep in?
What about all the trials I’ve been through? They’ve helped shape who I am. How can I not truly thank God for lovingly walking me through the fires?
And then there’s you…my readers. I would really want to let you all know what you mean to me…this Gratituesday before Thanksgiving.
So I just don’t know what to write about. As soon as I figure out what I’m most thankful for…I’ll be sure to let you know.

Funny how once we start counting–we could just go on and on. I can have such a better day when I decided be thankful instead of complaining. It is all in the attitude!

Ok you have to read my post today – I posted last night and just read it….. it sounds so much like yours. But you know what – it’s alright to be thankful for everything. God tells us in -1 Thessalonians 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. So he always us to ‘cliche’ :) Isn’t He awesome!

ok i must have still be sleeping with I typed that up this morning – this comment and my link – it’s supposed to say – in everything gives thanks. And in my comment instead of always – it should say *allows us to be ‘cliche’*…. oh and I brought brown shoes to work instead of my black ones. I think I should go back to bed!

This was such a great post, Laura. It’s nice to thank God for the BIG things (salvation) and the small things (our homes and our purses) :) This was really beautiful!

My gratituesday post is not nearly a blessing as reading yours, Laura, pre-planned topic, lol. I did want you to know that when I was filling out my bible study homework yesterday, I wrote about you and how thankful I was for your encouragement in my vocation as a mother. Reading your posts every morning at 5:30 when I am struggling to not crawl back into bed and just leave cereal out on the counter has changed how I feel about staying at home. Thank you for blessing me with your time and wisdom.
