I picked up some coconut cream concentrate about 8 years ago because I heard it was really good for us. But it was early in our healthy eating journey, so I really didn’t know what to do with it. Coconut oil was still new to me at that time, so coconut cream concentrate? What was I supposed to do with it??? I was actually a little bit afraid of it. So I left it on my shelf until it expired – like really, really expired.
During the past few weeks, I’ve come across several articles sharing delicious recipes we can make with coconut cream. I told myself that the next time I found it on sale at Tropical Traditions and it is a free shipping weekend, I’m going for it.
That weekend is now. I just ordered myself two 16-ounce jars of Organic Coconut Cream Concentrate for half price, and I paid $0.00 in shipping. Next week, this will arrive at my house:
What do I plan to do with this coconut cream?
For starters, I’ll be putting some in my coffee as a super-healthy coffee creamer. I also plan to spread some on my toast (like butter or peanut butter). Then I’m going to play with some healthy treat ideas using this high-nutrient food.
If you need to eat dairy free, you’ll want to add this to your safe and healthy food options. Even if you can eat dairy, I think you and I will still enjoy this food. And we’ll all benefit from the high fiber content and healthy fat it provides.
If you’ve been using coconut cream concentrate for a while, I’d really love for you to share how you use it. Have any great recipes?
If you’re able, take advantage of this great BOGO deal with free shipping at Tropical Traditions. I’m looking forward to my order coming next week!

I’m a newbie too. I used it for the first time this week. I made homemade mounds bars! Tasted great, though I found it hard to scoop out. Not sure if it’s supposed to be softer. I will be following for tips.

Like regular coconut oil it will soften as the temperature is warmer. When cool, we use a knife to cut out junks from the jar.

Thank you so much for this code just yesterday I was wanting to make a purchase but wanted a code for free shipping. By the way do you refrigerate the above product you mentioned or just leave it on the counter? Thank you so much I am going to use your link:)

We leave ours in our pantry with no problem.

It’s very good mixed with peanut butter and spread on warm toast. I’ve also added it to smoothies and eaten it straight from the jar :)

I have never used it in a recipe, however I use it almost daily. Since I eat sugar free, it’s my go to treat when I want something quick. I eat a spoonful or two, and it hits the spot and satisfies the cravings.
Brooke says
Debbi, can I jump in and ask how you eat sugar free? I’m planning a month of sugar free, and more next month because I have sugar addiction and I need to get healthier. How long have you been? Any tips? Thanks ????
Brooke says
Not ???
It was a :-)

Laura,
I will be curious to read about your experience with that product, if you do a follow up post. I, too, ordered coconut cream concentrate from T. T. a few years ago, and the product was gritty and thick and heavy. It was not at all like coconut cream, the soft, fluffy product that rises to the top of a can of coconut milk when refrigerated.
Has it changed? Hopefully you will comment on it once your package arrives and you start using it!
Love you blog! Thanks for all you do!

My understanding is that coconut cream is like peanuT butter. It is pretty much just ground coconut (yum!). Coconut milk is a totally different product/process. The coconut cream on the top of coconut milk is the fat rising to the top (again, yum!). Just like natural peanut butter gets very stiff, coconut cream conc. does the same. The ccc is also affected by temperature more than pb.

Mine is hard too. I’m not sure about what it is supposed to be texture-wise. I like it straight, but my kids don’t care for coconut flavored anything, so use it in recipes where it is not the main flavor. I’d love recipe ideas!

You can put the container of coconut cream in warm water to help it soften and make it easier to use.

I just checked this out on TT web page. I will be ordering this along with some other products. In the description it mentions ” 10 different ways to eat coconut cream concentrate”….some yummy recipes listed. Thank-you for bringing this to my attention.
I love their coconut oil and will look forward to trying this.

Easy coconut milk…….add 2 tsp. Coconut cream to 1 cup warm water. Chill. Can use in smoothies or to replace milk in any recipe. I found this at http://www.deeprootsathome.com.

I use it to make coconut rice when I forget to buy coconut milk. I use a couple of tbsps when making one cup of rice (2 cups water and jasmine rice is the best). You need to add a touch of salt as well to round out the flavour. I’m happy because it makes up for the lack of fiber in the white rice :)

I must be doing something wrong. I put two 16-oz jars in my cart. The description says ‘buy one get one free,’ but the total is still $40. I am not sure how to get the bogof price applied.
I emailed Tropical Traditions, but in case they operate on standard business hours, I am hoping that a reader can help me out so I don’t risk missing this great deal.
Thank you, coconut-lovers!
Laura says
Just put one into your cart – the two jars come together in one set. The reason it’s coming up $40 is that you have two sets in your cart (four jars). Change the quantity to one and you’ll have your BOGO pair of jars. Hope that makes sense! :)

My daughter had to go off dairy recently. I wanted to make your chicken and rice with the heavy whipping cream, so I heated some coconut cream and used it instead. Turned out great!

We use coconut cream from TT mostly in tropical smoothies and in a couple of Indian dishes. A few in our family like to add it to their oatmeal or chocolate. I want to try to make the center for chocolate truffles with it, but I have not done so yet.
Karen L says
That was supposed to be “in oatmeal or hot chocolate.”

Coconut cream concentrate is also called coconut butter :) I found a Paleo recipe for bread that calls for coconut butter, eggs, salt, baking soda and cider vinegar. No typo, that’s the entire ingredient list and it is delicious! The only downside is that it uses a lot of coconut butter – but you can easily make it from shredded coconut to save a little money.
