The Recipe

Back when I threw out the question about grills, Christy left a comment about how she makes Apple Crisp on the grill.  I asked her for the recipe…and she kindly sent it to me.  Doesn’t this sound SO good?

Apple Crisp on the Grill

In a bowl, mix together the apples, cinnamon and flour. Coat well, and add apple juice and sugar/or honey. Mix in with apples and fold in until mixture is combined. Place in an old metal bread pan or two disposable pie plates.

5-6 apples diced w/skins on (Adds color and extra vitamins)
2 T Sugar or honey
2 T. Apple juice
1 t . cinnamon
2T. whole wheat or AP flour

Topping:
1/4 c. whole wheat flour
1/4 c. rolled oats
1/4 c. butter (cold is good)
3 T . Brown Sugar
1 t. cinnamon

Mix topping ingredients together, and crumble evenly to the top of the apples! Wrap tightly in foil.

Christy says, “I put the crisp on the BBQ on low, at the same time as I I put on my potatoes, followed by the vegetables, then the burgers! When our main course is ready I turn off the heat, and let the crisp finish, and let the juices get nice and thick. The smell is amazing and brings a touch of fall to the air” :)

I would love a coupon, we have a bunch of Whole Foods in this area… just recently found your site and LOVE it! I made a variation of your zucchini whole wheat bread this morning, added in shredded carrots, more spices, and used agave nectar/pure maple syrup to sweeten! My husband and son LOVED it!

I can’t wait to see who wins the curriculum ebook! Your menu and the apple crisp recipe sounds wonderful! I am not sure if Earth Fare carries that brand of sausage. I know our local stores dont so that lets me out of this give away.

We gave up nitrates and msg about 2 years ago and my husband always says he misses brats the most. We love these, but they don’t fit into our monthly budget that well. I would LOVE to surprise him with some freebies! :)

was looking at your menu and thinking tomato soup, isn’t it too hot for that? I tried gazpacho with grilled cheese and it got a thumbs up from most of my crew:) Haven’t tried many cold soup but this one is fun once in awhile:)

We love sausages and I’m trying to find some that aren’t full of yucky nitrates. Would love to try these! Getting the coupon would make the trek to our “local” Whole Foods worth it. I always have a running list for WF for whenever we happen to be near there. :-) Thanks for the chance to get this!

Mmmmm, I haven’t tried these sausages yet, but I always buy the nitrate/nitrite and preservative free kind…it gets expensive so I’d love to get a chance to try a new kind for free!
