Man, I’ve been waiting for this one!! It’s hard for me to fork it out for shipping on something heavy like Palm Shortening (because I’m spoiled…and I like to save money). I’ve been needing palm shortening, but I was waiting for it to go on sale and sync up with a free shipping weekend. I waited, and I waited, and I waited…
Here it is! It is a free shipping weekend at Tropical Traditions AND their Organic Palm Shortening is 45% off through Sunday! $26.89 for a gallon…yes please.
How do I use Palm Shortening?
Well first of all, it’s almost pie baking season. Palm Shortening is a fantastic, healthy alternative to Crisco when making pie crusts (because our bodies can digest it well). I fry foods in it because it can withstand high temperatures without becoming hydrogenated (this is rare for a fat!). I use palm shortening to make my Whole Wheat Quick Baking Mix (like Bisquik), which is then used to make all kinds of goodies.
Yes, I love palm shortening.
Heard about the deforestation problem that accompanies the harvest of palm oil? This is not an issue where Tropical Traditions is concerned. They practice safe and environmentally friendly methods of palm tree farming. Read more details here. You can trust Tropical Traditions when it comes to healthy, nourishing food and the care of the earth.
Find the Organic Shortening here. Use the code 21159 at checkout to receive free shipping. The sale price is only good through Sunday, September 20. Stock up time!
Do you love palm shortening? How do you use it? Do you like frying food in it or do you prefer to fry in coconut oil?

Does it need to be refrigerated?
Laura says
Nope, I store mine in the pantry. :)

Thanks the tip! I just ordered my very first (OK and also second) gallons of palm shortening. Can’t wait to try it! I also splurged on the lip balm and lotion — I’ve been looking for a natural lotion forever and can’t find anything locally.

Thanks so much! Once again you alerted me to this great deal. It doesn’t come around that often. I had opened my last bucket and split it with my mom so I knew I would be needing one soon and was so hoping this deal would show up.

Thanks so much for posting this! I was already debating the Palm Shortening – but with free shipping, it was a no-brainer! Thanks for making sure we all know!

Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been waiting for this too. This will be my first time buying their palm shortening. Can you tell me how long this container lasts your family? I have a family of four soon to be five.
Laura says
It depends on what I use it for. I can use over half the container at once if I’m filling my fryer, but I use it over and over in that case. I probably, overall, go through three or four buckets each year. :)
Kimberly says
Wow! This might be just the push I need to finally make your mix! My entire family thanks you, too!!
No refrigeration needed means the mix wouldn’t have to take up room in our fridge, either…which is a game-changer!!

I tried all the links to purchase for first time but none of the links gets me the free book. Help please! Thanks for sharing all your wisdom. Keep it up!!
Laura says
Sorry, I should have mentioned. The book comes automatically in your order when you order through my links!

Yippee!! I’ve been waiting on this too! Thanks for always keeping us up on their sales/free shipping. I get their emails but for some reason they never let me know about their free shipping until Monday, and they say one day only. So I’m always glad for your emails…it gives me a few more days and lets me snag the sales that end before Monday. Any idea why they do that?
Laura says
No, I’m not sure. By Monday some of the great sales have ended!

Been waiting for this. Yes!

Happy Dance!!! I’ve been waiting for this! It’s been a few months since we’ve had any, but I kept holding out for this very sale! I’ll be stocking up for a year this time! :)

I’m wondering: What’s the shelf life? I’m worried I might not get it used up before it goes bad. Thanks!
Laura says
Should stay good for at least a year. :)
Erika says
Awe, man. I was waiting also, but last weekend I decided I couldn’t wait anymore. It’s pie season! I still purchased the palm shortening on sale, but I had to pay shipping. Bummer. Don’t think I can justify a second bucket this week.
Amy C says
Thanks for the heads up. Got a bucket and also ordered a bottle of the disinfectant.
