How long does this vanilla last on the shelf? Does the alcohol allow it to last for a long time? Also…where did you find your dark colored bottles? I have been wanting to try making my own vanilla for a very long time!

I plan on getting some before Christmas. My vanilla is getting ready in the back corner of my pantry. Made hubby buy the vodka though!

I want to make some vanilla for gifts and wondered if I just made a couple big bottles could I pour them in smaller bottles or do I need to leave the vanilla beans in them even after the 6 months so I should make a bunch of small bottles? I hope that makes sense, thanks for the help!

I made mine in a gallon jar, then strained it and poured it into small bottles.

Oh wait, I understand your question now, you’d need to just figure out how many beans you’d need per bottle depending on the size of them. Just look at my original post on how many it takes for a larger amount, then break it down depending on the size of your bottles.

    Hi,
I received this link from my friend Katie and Kitchen Stewardship.com. Last year I found out about making vanilla too late, so I had it on my calendar this summer to start for Christmas. I just ordered my beans, and already have my jars. However, I really like your labels, but can’t find that design on the website you linked (Delight Design). Can you help me determine which one to use?
Thanks so much and God bless!

Just contact Charlene through that link – and ask for the same label she made for Heavenly Homemakers. She custom designs labels and she’ll know exactly which ones you’re talking about!
