Homemade Vanilla Extract is a rockin’ awesome item to have in your kitchen…not to mention a perfect gift to make and give!

I’ve been making Homemade Vanilla for several years now, and while I’ve tried a few different vanilla beans from different sites, the vanilla beans from Olive Nation are by far the best quality I’ve found. What’s even better is that they have great prices, plus free shipping on their beans. Even better yet is that they always offer a discount for Heavenly Homemakers readers (when you use the code:  hhm2012).

I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate Olive Nation. When I asked them if they would be willing to offer a giveaway during our month of the Funky Fresh Kitchen, they were happy to participate!

Today, Olive Nation is giving two winners 1/2 pound of their awesomeVanilla Beans! Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win.

I will draw two random winners on Friday, September 28. Please watch for a post stating the winners as you will be responsible for contacting me if your name is chosen.

In the meantime, take note that Olive Nation is currently offering 20% off everything in their shop when you use the code SAVE20!! This deal is good through September 27.

Come to think of it, I think I got the how-to and a heads up on a deal for the beans from your blog some weeks ago… I bought the beans right away, but just started the mix a few days ago. Already it’s a lovely color. I’d be so excited to win some more beans to make additional batches to explore other flavors of alcohol.

I’ve been making my own vanilla extract for several years now, too. It’s very satisfying to have such a decadent item for so little cost, as opposed to before when vanilla beans cost me about $5/each and the extract (even plain old store brands) was so exorbitant in cost I cringe to think about it. This makes me very happy!

I have a big gallon jar that was almost in my sister’s trash! waiting on me to purchase the beans and alcohol. I get impatient with our grocery budget though. I only get to buy 1 or 2 different things a month and so I have to prioritize my “different” things. this month was a bulk cheese and butter order, next month we’re going to buying into a cow share, December will probably be a bulk meat purchase, January might get to be spices and vanilla beans, because February is Maple syrup!!! I cannot wait to bring home all that maple syrup:) Anyway, I’d love to win those wonderful beans! Vanilla month could come early:)

I made vanilla extract last year for Christmas gifts per your instructions. I covered the beans with more alcohol and have let them sit many more months, until I needed more extract in my own kitchen. I just ordered more beans from Olive Nation a few days ago even though I’m a little late getting started for gifts this Christmas. I have put the beans that I’ve used twice into jars of sucanat for vanilla sugar. We love it on our oatmeal!! If I win more vanilla beans, I’ll make more extract!
