Thank you SO much for sharing! I’ve been wanting to make Vanilla Extract for over a year, and even bought the jars from Mountain Herbs last summer. But they’ve sat in my garage while I keep trying to remember to order the beans. I finally submitted my order today! I think I’m going to put the beans in each jar and add the vodka so that I can still give them as gifts, but include a note saying that they won’t be ready for a few more months, and also then explain how they can add the beans to sugar to make their own vanilla bean sugar. It’ll be the gift that keeps on giving! :)

I need to strain my vanilla this week. I also ordered more beans the last time they had them 20% off. So I will start another gal. I actually have a couple cups making with bourbon and a couple cups with rum. Curious to see the difference. I gave all my first away except what I kept for myself. This time I am going to sell some to get my money back for the bottles my husband ordered.
