54 Ounces of Coconut Oil for as low as $13.27!!

I come across good deals for coconut oil, but never as good as this. Come closer my friends. This one is too good to pass up.

Right now, Vitacost lists their 54-ounce tub of Vitacost Brand Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for just $18.27. This price, in and of itself, is amazing. But here’s an even better deal you can get!

vitacost coconut oil 54

This one has coconut flavor and scent.
It is wonderful for baking.

If you are a new customer with Vitacost, you can get a $10.00 off coupon code to use on your first order of $30.00 or more when you click through my referral link. On top of that, shipping is free if you buy at least $25 worth of Vitacost brand products. Here’s what this could mean for you:

  1. Click here to get a $10 off coupon code.
  2. Place two 54 ounce tubs of Vitacost Brand Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil in your cart. This will total $36.54. (This qualifies you for free shipping and meets your $30 order minimum.)
  3. Use your $10.00 off code to bring your total down to $26.54.
  4. This makes each tub cost only $13.27!

Don’t think you’ll use two 54-ounce tubs very quickly? Just put one in your cart and check out all the other Vitacost brand items that you would use. Those items will help you reach your $25 free shipping minimum as well as help you make your way toward the $30 order minimum.

Questions? Let me know. I’m stocking up even though I don’t get the $10 off since this is such a good price!

Hit Restart, Save $10

Right now, I’m very much in a “stock up on groceries for fall and winter” mode. I want to be set up to have company, to bake for others, and to make our school days easier. Being well supplied with ready-to-grab groceries is super helpful to me. Many of you (like me) already purchase food online from Vitacost. It’s a wonderful option for healthy groceries, low or free shipping costs, and home delivery – my favorite part!

If you are new to Vitacost, you can shop through my referral link and get a free $10 off your first order of $30 or more. You’ll love all the great food they offer, and to get $10 free? Well, yay! Even better, if you purchase $25 or more Vitacost Brand products, shipping will be free. (Otherwise it’s just $4.99.)

Now Is The Time To Stock Up On Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips (Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off Deal, Plus $10 Off)

Why is now a good time to stock up on chocolate chips if you’re ordering them online like I do? Because soon, it will be too hot and they will melt en route. I typically try to put several bags of these chocolate chips in my freezer this time of year – enough to last me through the summer.

Right now, Vitacost is offering their Enjoy Life Soy Free Chocolate Chips for buy-one-get-one-half-price. So, if one costs $4.09, the second one just costs just $2.05. This means the price averages to only $3.07 per bag!

AND, if you are a brand new customer with Vitacost, you can get an even better deal. Before ordering your chocolate chips, sign up through my referral link to receive a coupon code worth $10 of credit to use on your first purchase of $30 or more. That sweetens this deal even more!

Vitacost offers free shipping for all orders over $49, so you may want to take advantage of that too. Here’s where you’ll find all the items that are 65% off right now. I always find that it is worth it to get the food we’ll be needing anyway to fill the $49 requirement to receive free shipping. They also offer free shipping if you order at least $25 worth of Vitacost Brand products – so check to see if this is an option too.

Enjoy your $10 off!

Vitacost is Offering FREE Coconut Oil With Purchase (Plus Tons of Other Great Sale Prices!)

I’ve looked through the Vitacost site thoroughly today and found many items I use regularly. I’m loving this sale!!  (If you are a new customer with Vitacost, you can receive an additional $10 off too! Info at the bottom of this post.)

~ Buy any of the products on this page, receive a free 4-ounce container of Organic Coconut Oil. It’s a lovely bonus with your purchase. You’ll see on that sale page that they offer several sizes of coconut oil, both virgin (coconut flavor) and refined (flavorless).  Expired

Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips are only $3.27 right now. I love these because they are soy free. They are also dairy free if that is a need for you. This is a great time to stock up on chocolate chips. Why? Because if you order them in the summer, they might melt while they are shipped to you. Ask me how I know.

~ Spectrum Refined Coconut Oil is only $5.99 for a 14 ounce jar. This price is less than the Vitacost brand mentioned above, so I’d go with this one and buy a Vitacost Virgin Coconut Oil for the above free coconut oil deal. I love having both virgin and refined on hand for different cooking/baking needs and preferences.

~ Spectrum Organic Palm Shortening is only $5.19 for a 24 ounce tub. Because this is made from palm oil, it is a very safe and healthy variety of shortening!

Farmer’s Market Organic Canned Pumpkin is $1.90 per can.

~ Rolled Oats are $3.49 for a two pound bag. Gluten Free Rolled Oats are just $3.99 for the same size.

The best news yet:  Are you a new customer to Vitacost?  Sign up through my referral link and get $10 off your first order of $30 or more! Once you sign up, you’ll receive a coupon code to use on your first order, which will knock ten bucks off your total!

Shipping is free when you spend at least $49. It is also free if you purchase at least $25 of Vitacost brand products. Otherwise, shipping is a flat $4.99.

You CAN Save Money on Whole Foods! {31 Days of Real Food Reality ~ Day 25}

Let’s eat right and save money too!

When we were first changing over from processed foods and white flour/white sugar products, I was so discouraged at first when I saw the costs of healthier foods. I used to have so much fun shopping with coupons and finding good deals at the store. Now, it seemed, I would need to throw all my coupons away and maybe stop wearing shoes or paying the heat bill so that we could afford groceries. Healthy food seemed to cost twice or three times as much as I was used to paying!

sidebar banner5

A few tears and several months of research later, I found that while yes, some foods were just going to cost us more money (since they contained real food ingredients instead of cheap high fructose corn syrup and the like) – there were many ways to keep our food budget reasonable. God knew my desires and blessed us with resources. He always provides – no matter where you live and what your circumstances.

My coupon clipping hobby has been replaced by a new healthier, money saving hobby:  Figuring out recipes for healthy meals and snacks that can be made at low cost. Seeking local sources of food that are reasonably priced, nourishing, and support our hard working neighbors and farmers. Finding deals online that are delivered right to my door – saving me gas money, time, effort, and energy.  I also had to recognize that the extra I am spending in food is money I’m often saving on health care costs – even if I don’t see the difference right away.

Want to learn to make real food meals and snacks that are low in cost? My website is full of them. Want to find local sources of food that fit your budget? Keep your ears open, ask questions of those around you, and check out LocalHarvest.org to see what is available in your area. Want to find some online deals so healthy foods can be delivered to your door? I’ll continue to share them in blog posts as I find them (often!).

What’s fun is that online stores offer sales and sometimes even coupons too! Free shipping is my friend, so I’ve learned ways to make this happen for online grocery purchases. You really can’t beat the ease of having healthy food delivered (for free!) to your door.

Here are some great online resources and deals to check out:

Amazon Groceries

Did you know you can buy all kinds of groceries at Amazon? I am always amazed at the sales Amazon offers. If you have Amazon Prime, shipping is free on most products. If you choose five subscribe and save items in one month’s time, you get an additional 20% off those items. AND, Amazon offers many grocery coupons you can clip to add to the wonderful discounts you’re already getting. I have so much fun shopping Amazon groceries! (Some Amazon grocery coupons are for not-so-healthy foods, so if you see those, run far, far away.)

In addition, I use Swagbucks, which I redeem for Amazon gift cards. This means I can take advantage of all the great deals I find at Amazon, plus use a gift card to get the food for free or partially free! Learn more about Swagbucks here.

Price-Matching

I live in a small town, so my grocery options are not very competitive. But I have a Walmart in town that price-matches all the grocery stores an hour away from me in big cities! Taking the time to Price-Match has saved us thousands! I price match the good deals on fruits and vegetables each week and we load up.

Read more about price-matching here. I’ve found Pricematerz.com to be a fantastic resource to make the list-making easier.

What is Price-Matching and How Does it Work

If you’re a brand new customer with Vitacost, if you sign up through this referral link, you’ll receive an automatic $10 of credit to spend on your first $30 order.  If you buy at least $25 worth of Vitacost brand products, you’ll receive free shipping. Here’s a sample of how to get the most out of your Vitacost free credit:

  1. Sign up through this referral link to receive a $10 coupon code through your email.

    Organic Slivered Almonds  $4.75

    Organic Dried Apricots  $5.49
    Organic Shredded Coconut  $2.49
Organic Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds $6.19  (such a delicious treat!)
  3. This totals $35.80 of Vitacost Brand Products. Use your referral code to receive $10 off your order. Because you still have $25 worth of Vitacost products in your cart, shipping will be free for all of those great groceries!

Once you are a customer with Vitacost, you can then refer your friends through your blog, email, facebook or twitter, and receive $10 of credit for each new customer who makes a purchase through your link! This is a wonderful way to earn some extra healthy grocery cash!

What Healthy Food Should I Have On Hand? Where Do I Buy Them? {31 Days of Real Food Reality ~ Day 11}

Not sure where to start when it comes to shopping for healthy, real food ingredients? No problem! I have an entire page on my site dedicated to sharing what foods I buy regularly and where I usually purchase them.

Many people assume that you either have to live on a farm or live in a big city in order to find sources for healthy food. Not true at all! I live neither on a farm, nor in a big city.  I live in a small town with two locally owned grocery stores and a Wal-mart. The nearest Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Natural Grocers stores are about an hour away – which means we are only privileged to shop in those stores a few times a year when we happen to be in the city for appointments or soccer games.

So what are my options? I buy from farms close-by, I buy from a food co-op, I buy online, and I buy the rest from our local grocery stores and Wal-mart. When I do happen to be in the city and can shop at a more specialized whole foods store, it’s a blast! But since those opportunities are rare, I sure do love having access to the internet and my food co-op!

What food do I often buy to have on hand to prepare healthy meals and snacks? You’ll find that detailed list here. Even better, I have a printable Real Food Grocery Check-List included in my Let’s Do This! eCourse, which is very helpful to have in your kitchen as you transition to real food cooking. (That eCourse is a part of our amazing Real Food Reality Resources Package. Did you get yours yet?!)

Let these detailed lists offer you guidance as you transform your kitchen. Anytime I find online sales on these whole food ingredients, I always share them with you within a post so that you can benefit too.  The ability to order healthy food ingredients online is a wonderful blessing!

All of these items are perfect for Christmas-time baking and enjoyment. (Gotta have coffee with the chocolate goodies, right?)

Typically, shipping on orders less than $49 would be a flat $4.99 (which is great, but still not free). That would make the original price of that package without sales, free shipping, or bonus discounts $44.37. But Vitacost is offering free shipping if you order just $25 worth of their Vitacost brand products. (The coffee and coconut oil in this package meet this requirement.)

In addition, if you are a brand new customer and sign up through this referral link, you’ll receive a bonus $10 of credit when you place your first $30 Vitacost order. So with free shipping and the $10 bonus discount, your package comes all the way down to $26.32!

Simple Almond Flour Muffins

almond_flour_muffins
This was my first time to “play” with almond flour. Wow, is it awesome to work with!

I had ordered a package from Vitacost to experiement with. It is not an inexpensive ingredient by any means. But I know that using alternative flours occasionally to give my family variety is a healthy choice. Plus, I’d heard that almond flour is awesome. It is so true!

These simple muffins went together quickly, and the end result was amazing! The muffins taste like a cupcake – super light, sweet, and airy.

You can make your own almond flour if you prefer. Simply grind almonds in your food processor until a fine flour has formed. Just be sure you don’t grind them too long, or you’ll end up with almond butter!

Simple Almond Flour MuffinsYum

2 cups almond flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
4 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix together almond flour, baking powder, and sea salt. Add eggs, melted butter, honey, water, and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Spoon batter into 12-15 paper-lined muffin cups. Bake in a 350° oven for about 20 minutes or until muffins are golden brown.
