Shelf Reliance – Thrive Food Giveaway!

As I mentioned in my menu plan post, I’ve got a bunch of giveaways for you this week! I’m excited to launch this series with a fun giveaway from Tracy at Shelf Reliance!

Ever been to a Shelf Reliance party?  I had no idea what to expect when I was first invited to one. But…it had to do with food, so I was all over it! It didn’t take me long to really fall in love with the idea that Shelf Reliance was promoting.

Shelf Reliance carries a huge line of Thrive Food. This is food that has been freeze dried at it’s freshest point, preserving all the nutrients. Then it is vacuum sealed, making it stay good and usable for years!

Experience Freeze Dried Food for Everyday Cooking

Sound…interesting? Different? You can read more about their food here, but also, let me explain a little bit more.

Take the Thrive Food mushrooms for example (because this is by far my favorite product of theirs!). I can buy fresh mushroom from the store and it will take exactly 1.3 days for those mushrooms to get slimy and fuzzy. Therefore, I almost never buy fresh mushrooms or have them on hand when I want to throw together a pizza or a stroganoff.

But, with the Thrive Food, all I have to do is get out my can of freeze-dried mushrooms, re-hydrate a cup full of mushrooms and I’m good to go. Takes me about four minutes! I bought a big ol’ can of these mushrooms and they are lasting me a LONG time.

That’s the other cool thing about Thrive Food. Their prices are really great.  I paid around $17 for a 10 pound can. Do you know how many mushrooms fit into a 10 pound can? That $17 is going to last me for several months!

By purchasing directly through Tracy’s link at Shelf Reliance, you’ll automatically receive a sale price of 7-17% off regular prices! This makes a good deal on food an even better deal!

I also want to emphasize the work from home opportunity you can have with Shelf Reliance!!!  If you’ve been looking for something you can do to earn some extra money for your family, I strongly encourage you to click over to the “Join Team” page and see what it’s all about. Tracy is a friend of mine, so I can give you  my personal recommendation that this is a good business and that Tracy is someone you can trust.

Okay…now the giveaway! Besides their mushrooms…I LOVE all of their freeze-dried fruit. I bought a can of their freeze dried blueberries and WOW are they good. We eat them just as they are for a snack…or we throw them into pancakes and waffles…we make them into a syrup…we rehydrated them and add them to smoothies. Again, the price is amazing for high quality blueberries.

If you want blueberries…you’ll have to buy your own (what a tease…I  know). BUT, Tracy has a Pantry Sized Can of Raspberries to give away to one of you this week!! I’ve tried them….you’ll LOVE them!!

If you’re interested in being entered in this giveaway, leave a comment here on this post. For a second entry (and please leave a second comment here letting me know you did this!), you can join Tracy’s Shelf Reliance Facebook Page. (You’ll see her facebook link right on the homepage of her site.)

I’ll draw a random winner for this giveaway on Thursday, March 31.

This giveaway is closed…thank you!

This sounds wonderful. I love having quantities of healthy food on my shelf. Living in the Appalacian area does not lend itself to that type of living.

I am desperately trying for us to eat healthier, but all the fresh produce I buy goes bad before we actually get ready to eat it. This would be awesome!

This seems like a really neat idea! We’re terrible about making sure that we eat all of a fresh item before it goes bad, this might be a good solution. I’ve had freeze dried corn from the baby food aisle before and I couldn’t keep my fingers out of it! I’d love to try the raspberries! :D

We already LOVE and use Shelf Reliance products in our food storage, but I wanted to mention that it’s not a 10 lb can, it’s a #10 can. A very large difference – even with the heaviest of dried goods that would be put in a #10 can, you won’t get 10 lbs of food. And especially not freeze-dried mushrooms. :) #10 refers to the size of the can (I read the history a while back – it was dull & I forgot most of it), and it’s considered “industrial or institutional”-sized. :)

  21. Kathleen T says

I liked her on FB for a second entry.

I did have a couple of questions.
While no preservatives are added during freeze drying, and some products are non-GMO, we try to eat organic.
It seems like I’d just be eating freeze dried pesticides and herbicides in their current product line. Do they have organic products?

Also, this seems to be a part of a multi-level marketing business, yes? If so, that always bothers me, because instead of just paying for the product I’m paying for all of the downline’s profits/incentives.

Unless some organic produce if offered, I’ll probably end up dehydrating my local organic produce, and vacuum seal it for my own long term and short term storage.
There is a wealth of information on how to do this yourself at http://www.dehydrate2store.com, if you want to learn how to preserve and store your own garden goodness or other fresh produce.

    Hi Kathleen –

Shelf Reliance is well-known in the world of food-storage and I’ve purchased several things from them. Most of the time, you will not find organic freeze dried anything, but it’s much like buying conventional frozen (cold-frozen) food at the store. That food is washed, separated, and cared for (only the best is chosen) before freezing it – and the nutrients are frozen at their peak. Freeze dried food is similar – it’s washed, separated, and cared for (only the best is chosen) – and then freeze dried at the peak of nutrition.

While we also eat mostly organic, when it comes to food storage, I can’t be so picky – I have to trust that my own ability to cook what we’ve stored will help. And if we’re ever in a crisis situation where we’re relying *soley* on our food storage, no organic anything will be available anyhow. *shrug* We do the best we can with what we have on hand. :)

Thrive products are available in home-shows, but also available online in Shelf Reliance’s regular store. The prices are the same, and sometimes even lower for the home shows. The prices are almost identical to other food storage companies, as well – so far, I’ve not noticed what you mention about MLM-run companies. The home-show side allows consultants to earn money on the side and get their products for their food storage at a lower cost, so there’s that benefit to them. I’m not a consultant, but I do enjoy Thrive products and have them in my food storage. :)

I hope this helps answer your questions! :)

Also, time saved from cutting up fruits and veggies when you have to make a quick dinner. The cut up peppers and onions are amazing:) Would love to “win” these berries.

I have never heard of Thrive but it sounds great.
I have a suggestion about mushrooms. I buy them when they are on sale then slice and sauteed them in a little olive oil. Then I cool them and freeze them in a ziploc bag. I have them in a thin layer so I can just break off how many I want for the dish I’m making. It works great. Although dry mushrooms sound great too.

I just placed an order with Tracy… does the 7-17% discount show up at the point of sale or is it reflected in the “on sale” prices?? I didn’t see anything extra come off at check-out. Some of the things I bought were on sale, but it seemed like when I went into the site from other avenues those same sale prices were available apart from Tracy’s link so I’m just checking to see if I was able to take advantage of the discount you mentioned in your post or if I missed it somehow.

    [Reply]

    Tracy Reply:

Hi April – thank you for your order. And yes, if you enter Shelf Reliance’s website before going through a consultant’s website you will see the retail prices. So once you click through my website, it will show “Sale Prices”. This is the 7 – 17% discount you see in the sale price. Also if you sign up for the Q program you receive even further discounts. If you have further questions feel free to email me. Thank you,

This is the kind of stuff I’d actually want to go and buy! And I’d sure love to try the raspberries :)

I know you probably don’t want me to tell you this but my cousin who took her son off of gluten had to do it for 6 months.(can we still be friends even though I just said that);) I hope I am wrong that it would really take that long to see any results but she said in order for it to leave his system totally it would take that long. Praying for you too! You are an awesome mother! It is only natural to have those thoughts and feelings!!!
