Question #8
ByWell, you all know my Fourth of July plans….
Now I want to know yours!!
I LOVE hearing what people are doing for special occasions!
Tell me your plans! What will you be eating? Who will you be with? Will you be travelling? Do you have guests coming over? Will you watch fireworks? Do you light them yourself? Which ones are your favorite?
(Boy, I’m nosey.)
What will you be wearing? What will you do if it rains? Do you think there will be lots of mosquitoes out that night? Will you be…..

Question #*? What were 1-7? Sorry you need to help my brain! But to answer the question, a bunch of people from church will be getting together to eat a pig that a few of the men are going to roast in the ground! Hopefully they know what they’re doing! I’m sure there will be lots of good food, you know in case the pig doesn’t fully cook! Hopefully the girls will be happy long enough so that we can watch fireworks! Last year we missed the show due to hyper sensitive pregnancy nose!

My little sister is getting married on July 5, so we will be rehersing and tying up all loose ends on the 4th. We are ALL in the wedding and are SO EXCITED to see all of the family — weddings make for great family reunions!

We are traveling today to another state to visit my extended family–my parents and sister are coming from the far-away state they live in as well! All of my grandparents and most of my aunts, uncles, and cousins live where my parents grew up still. Anyway, tomorrow we’re going to a family BBQ and pool party and Saturday we’re having a baby shower for my cousin, who is due about 9 weeks before I am!

Let’s see.. we’ll be getting together at a friend’s house for a cookout. I’m taking a strawberry shortcake trifle and hotdog chili.
After the cookout we’re heading down to a huge local park that hosts the county’s 4th celebration. There will be music and fun stuff for the kids, then the FIREWORKS!! BOOM! Can’t wait! :-) Hope you have a GREAT one!

I think we are doing most of our festivities tonight (the 3rd). We are having a celebration that my husband finished his residency on Monday. We’re celebrating tonight with a bunch of friends. I have the day off from work so I can cook a bunch of food. Tomorrow, I’ll probably be picking up the place and we might be eating leftovers :)

Tonight, I think my hubby is going to light off fireworks with his dad and brothers (I’m probably staying home with the kiddos, 17 mo. and 4 mo.). Tomorrow, the kids and I are going to visit my parents; tomorrow night, we’ll probably watch some fireworks. Saturday, DH’s uncle is having a family picnic. Sunday I cantor at church…whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about it all!

Our festivities are on the 3rd here. We have a smalltown carnival with rides for the kids, a pig roast, and a parade. Then, we’ll have supper at my mom’s house (bbq) and she baked a birthday cake for my mother-in-law who is visiting from California. Fireworks are shot off on the hill behind my family’s home tonight too. I’m wearing a blue and brown tank top and a cute matching skirt.

I’ll be running a 5k with my sister, then watching the local parade afterwards. We’ll do fireworks somewhere (our house or the parents). Saturday my sister and her male friend (can’t bring myself to admit my “baby” sister has a boyfriend) are coming for a bonfire and then we’ll hit fireworks in another town.

We will be having some family over. I will grill hotdogs and have pork bbq from the crockpot along with zuchinni/squash and potato salad. Fresh watermelon, strawberries and pineapple for dessert!
Hopefully it won’t rain although there’s a 50% chance. :( If it doesn’t rain we’ll go to our town’s riverfront for the fireworks display. If it does rain, we’ll do games inside. And of course, we’ll all be wearing red, white and blue! :)

I’ll be taking the little one to visit my parents; my brother and his family are already there. (I have 4 nieces.) We may or may not watch fireworks, my little one will already be in bed long before that (hopefully!).
I’ll admit I’ve never been a huge fan of fireworks because it seems my neighbors always have a different work schedule than I do and they’re lighting them until midnight when I’m trying to sleep. It got worse when, 2 or 3 years ago, we were at my hubs’s Uncle Eddie’s celebration and something fell over after they lit it. I ended up with a few small burns and some singed hair. Eek.
And, as a member of our local health board of directors, I’ll remind everyone to wear their bug spray to combat mosquitoes! I have some of the new Off stuff that is non-greasy (smooth & dry?) and it’s not too bad.

We are driving to a remote part of SE Kansas, to have a family gathering, and maybe celebrate with a few friends who might as well be family.
We have Uncle’s pancakes in the morning, potluck whatever all day long, and homemade ice cream in different flavors. My fave is strawberry, from Aunt’s garden. YUMMY! I usually help with the last minute things, like chips. I have to bring my own raisins for the trail mix we make. There are only two of us (out of 25) who DEMAND raisins.
We will have our own fireworks show in Aunt & Uncle’s yard on Friday night, and go swimming in a nearby town on Saturday. Sunscreen all over. I am thankful to be reminded about bug spray. I have to buy some…
We can sometimes catch lightning bugs in jars. We play outdoor games like Volleyball and Water Gun Fights. We also play indoor games, like doing puzzles, Scrabble and card games of all kinds.
I will be taking so many pictures, it isn’t even funny.

Let’s see…
My brother is having a cook out at his house at 6 p.m. and I hope to leave by 8 to bring Izzy home and get her fed and possibly to bed and then head to another party/fireworks display at my friend’s house…I have no idea what I’ll wear, I hadn’t even thought of that! Yikes. The kids are lighting their fireworks outside now… saving some for tomorrow. Ummm… hope it doesn’t rain, if so we’ll stay home :(. Mosquitoes? Hate them! I hope they are scarce.

Today is the 5th but we are still celebrating! Our weekend started off on the 3rd with my youngest son’s second birthday and a trip to the park and a picnic.
Our town has a large parade on the 4th which we attended with 10 friends and a few family members. Then we hung out at home, had a small picnic, and watched fireworks. We live on the outskirts of town on a huge hill and from our vantage point could see the city sponsored firewords as well as most of the resident’s fireworks-the kids loved it!
Today my sister is having a picnic for family and friends so we will go there and have burgers, hot dogs, hot sausage, lots of salads, the usual cook out foods. I am making pasta salad and cookies and also bringing the popsicles for the kids.
Sunday we have my 2 year olds birthday party for family. He will be thrilled with is new bike!
I love this idea for a post-I guess I am nosey too!

My older kids were with my husband’s mom, the youngest was with my mom, and my husband had to work that night. I sat at home, watched an NCIS marathon (don’t tell my husband, he’d tease me mercilessly!!), and mentally cursed the morons setting off fireworks out here in the country (’a pox on all your houses!’), because we’re under a burn ban. And have been. For a long time. And I don’t want to be burned out of my house.
But I digress. I relaxed in front of the TV and folded clothes and enjoyed not seeing any other people all evening. :)
