Question #26

By Laura · Jan,23 2009

Our computer somehow got EIGHT viruses and was at the our Friendly Neighborhood Computer Hospital for a few days this week.  We got it back last night, thanks to our friend who has the knowledge and equipment to heal computer viruses.

During the time my beloved machine was away I ran to the library a couple of times to check email, moderate comments and time stamp my blog posts.  I also went through severe computer withdrawal.  I didn’t even know what to cook…since my menu plan is on my site and I failed to print it out this week.  I was shaky and incoherent for the good part of two days.  Oh, how I’ve come to rely on my computer.

Anyway…I’m ever so happy to be clicking away on my very own keyboard again and to have access to all my files.  I’m also dreadfully behind now on emails and questions and hope to play catch-up some this weekend.  ;)

Beyond computer catch-up, here’s what is on our weekend agenda:

  • We have an extra boy staying with us for the weekend (one with red hair…so I can tell him apart from my own children).  The boys always have so much fun when this kid comes over!
  • All the boys (and the Daddy) need haircuts.  I think on Saturday I’ll be lining them up one by one.  Bzzzzzt.  (Hopefully I’ll recognize the red-headed boy and leave his hair alone.  His mother might not appreciate me cutting his hair while he’s here!)
  • The elderly man I mentioned here passed away this week and we will be attending his funeral.  It’s sure to be a wonderful celebration of his Godly life.
  • We have a potluck on Sunday with the college students who go to church with us.  I love cooking for a potluck (although I still haven’t figured out what I’m taking)!
  • We had a decent amount of snow and we’re expecting more through the weekend.   Matt’s got his shovels ready!
  • We’ll be doing house cleaning and baking to get ready for the week ahead…

What’s on YOUR agenda this weekend?  Anything exciting going on?  Have any plans?  Staying home without any plans?

Hope you have a great weekend!

What with the snow, I plan on spending as much time as possible snuggled in the house with my tail tucked over my nose (just like my barn cats in the hay, of course). I picked out a soup recipe for once the leftovers in the fridge decrease. And once I have a few minutes, I plan to dig around that Nebraska Food Co-op site! You’ve been holding out on me there! :>) Seriously, it looks pretty cool – thanks for sharing.

I need to get my car looked at since it’s makes a slightly embarrassing tooting noise and THEN it is badly in need of getting cleaned out and washed. Sunday I have nursery duty and then we’re having dessert and coffee at some friends’ house. And maybe the farmer’s market in the morning to check out some poultry prices and see what else they have. :)

We don’t have snow here presently, but I’m sure it won’t be too much longer. We went from low 60s one day to 20s last night. This evening we plan to have a family over that has almost newborn twin girls. They have been struggling a lot lately, and we’ve taken them under our wing. I’m working on planning a baby shower for her for this coming Thursday as well as a Sunday school fellowship for next Friday. Yikes!
Dh and ds will be working on getting shelves in our closet upstairs. Woohoo!! I’m super excited about that.

  6. Oh goodness, I will pray for him and his family and that the Lord accepted him with loving arms. He sounded like a lovely and wonderful man.

Your comment about cutting the red head’s hair cracked me up! ;)

We actually don’t have any plans, which is so rare for us that I am relishing it! Not to mention I have a cold. So I want to put dinner in the crock pot, and snuggle up with a blanket and sleep. Don’t know if sleep will happen with the kids running and yelling (my kids are so loud are yours?), but I will snuggle just the same! I cut my boys hair too. They are looking shaggy but I think we will post pone a few more days til I can breathe again!

I have about thirty logs to visit and my computer was fine so I have no excuse. Your weekend sound really busy. I am going to go make a cake for church tonight and try to quilt. Have a nice time!

  9. Our plan is to do some clean up in the yard and around the house and for me to do a whole lot of baking.

  10. Baby stuff! Hubby is going to install the carseat, and we are hoping to look for a rocking chair. The fact that I could “go any day now” is both exciting and terrifying, and I’m not going to let the grass grow under my feet, unless I’m too sore, tired, or pregnant to move, anyway. :)

We are celebrating one of our sons 16th birthday tomorrow. TOday we went grocery shopping for the party. 2 large pans of lasanga, 2 chocolate chip pies, 1 fresh homemade apple pie, kringler, salad and I am going to make homemade focaccia bread. There will be 18 of us!
Our two 13 year olds had their first basketball game of the season with the Y and they won by two points. It is hysterical watching boys at this age. So many funny mistakes but they have a great coach.

Its the Australia Day weekend here. Its a weekend when we all have BBQs and swim in the pool or river or beach. Yesterday was about 104 F (38C) so we spent much of the day in the pool or inside when it was just too hot. Its such a great time of year to have friends and family over and that is exactly what we are doing. Additionally, school starts back for the kids on Wednesday so we I will make sure uniforms are ironed and all lunch boxes are labelled (as well as everything else that goes to school otherwise it never comes back).
