Yesterday, I received a phone call from our Electric Company, letting me know that while they appreciated that they had received payment from us, the check I had given them was actually written out to East Hill Church of Christ. So, would I like them to shred it, or send it back?
Well, now don’t I just feel so intelligent.
So then, I had to embarrass myself further by calling the church office to ask if I had put our Electric Bill check in the collection plate last Sunday…
But no one at the office knew because someone else deals with the checks.
So, I had to embarrass myself further and call the guy who counts the money and deposits the checks.
But he didn’t know.
So now, I get to call the bank and ask if the check went through and how much it was written for…
And so, I decided to embarrass myself further and tell you about it too. I mean, hey, we might as well all get a good laugh at my expense.
(It is really funny.)

So, did you ever find out if you gave your electric bill to your church? ;)
My grandmother once tried to send me a check for my birthday, but the check she mailed was made out to her water company. I never learned if she’d sent a check made out to me to them.

Well, I’m happy to report that the check that I wrote to the church was right and normal (as opposed to me that day apparently!). I guess I just wrote two checks that day to the same place for the same amount, and never had a clue. So, the saga of the crazy lady writing checks to the wrong people has ended…for now.

Too funny. You know, I think we all do things like this sometimes. My usual trick is to send the check and forget to sign it . Then they have to send it back so I can sign it lol. Like they really want to be paid or something. ;)
