I’ve been reading your menu plans for I can’t remember how long. And every week I wonder… how do you make such varied and sometimes time consuming breakfast and lunch foods every week. In order to stay sane throughout the homeschooling day, I’ve had to keep things much, much simpler. Do you have some hint that I’ve missed? I know you freeze a lot ahead of time, but surely not the cheeseburger macaroni. Do you just cook and do dishes all day long? Surely not ;-)

Well, here’s a post I wrote a long time ago about lunches: https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/feeding-the-family-lunchtime, in case that helps answer the question a little bit.
But, I guess I’ve found that making bigger meals for breakfast and lunch doesn’t take much more time than making a bunch of sandwiches. The freezer foods do help a TON, but you’re right, I don’t make Cheeseburger Mac ahead of time. It really only takes about twenty minutes to make. Same as Lamb Chops (less actually when you think about prep time) and many other dishes.
There are a lot of dishes, but the boys and husband all help out.
Also, my husband has been working mostly nights, so he’s home at lunchtime which means I really want to fix a good, big mean while he’s here to enjoy it with us.
If possible I try to make our breakfast the night before (like muffins or breads or fruit dips) so that all I have to do is rewarm or scramble eggs really quickly.
Not sure if that answers all your questions or not. What types of things do you make for lunches? I’d love your ideas…maybe I can add some new foods to our menu!

Hi Laura! I just want to say I love reading your menu plans. I have only made a handful of your recipes since I’ve been reading your blog (they were FABULOUS!), but I just enjoy reading what you’ll be eating. I get the same kind of joy reading the menu at a delicious restaurant, or perusing a good cookbook. I know I’ll probably never eat that yummy stuff, but it feels great just to read.
Merry Christmas to you and praying God’s blessings on your wonderful family all year!

Hello, I have a question.. I am looking at your potato soup recipe and I am wondering what exactly is heavy cream, and where do I find it? Thanks, I am new to the site and printing menus :)

Hello, I am new to your site and excited about trying some recipes. On your potato soup recipe, you have heavy cream listed. What exactly is that, and where do i find it?? Thanks so much!
Laura says
Heavy cream is simply the cream that is skimmed off the top of milk and can be found in the dairy section of the store. It is called either “heavy cream” or “whipping cream”.
