Making this tonight as a 'rescue meal, cause there's no meat thawed in the fridge!

Love this recipe. I use canned salmon from Trader Joe's and fry it in butter. I also substitute crushed dried mushrooms for the bread crumbs.

Some comments on this recipe (because we make these a lot at our house). As someone else said, you can bake the patties on a greased cookie sheet (we bake them at 400 for 20 min or until golden).
Sometimes I add a can of tuna to the recipe to stretch it a little. It still has that good salmon flavor, but tuna is a little cheaper.
Also, the leftovers are great crumbled up on a green salad.

Has anyone made this with fresh salmon? How would you cook it first? I have a bunch of fillets in the freezer from a recent fishing trip to Lake Michigan. Thanks!

We ate these growing up with creamed corn. Then if you don't care for the
flavor you just dip them in the corn and it changes the flavor. It worked
for us as kids.

Just let to let anyone know. You can crush any of the bones in the can and you wont have to take them out. They smash w/ your fingers or a fork.

For an alternative:
I roll 1T. sized balls in extra bread crumbs, flatten slightly on a cookie sheet (I use a pampered chef large bar pan), and bake in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes. They have a very nice texture and grease free!

This recipe makes 10-12 patties, depending on how big you make them. The six of us BARELY get full on this recipe, but of course it depends on what sides I serve along with them!

How many does your recipe serve? I'm a big fan of knowing how much a certain recipe makes. I have a pretty big family and I almost always have to double (at least) new recipes in order to feed my family and it's nice to know if I need to double, triple, etc. the ingredients instead of making way too much or worse, way too little of a given meal.
