Going to (or hosting) a Super Bowl party this weekend?
We’re going to one but I’m trying to figure out if I’m going to watch the game…or just eat yummy food and visit with the other gals.
Can I embarrass myself by admitting to you that as of this moment, I have no idea who’s even in the Super Bowl this year? Yes, it’s true. I have not a clue.
(It is at a time like this when almost everyone in the world knows something that I don’t know that I usually say something smart-alecky like, “Oh yeah, well…I know how to make mozzarella cheese, hah!” This either makes me look a little less dumb, or it makes me look like even more of a freak, because hello? Who makes their own mozzarella cheese?!)
Super Bowl parties are all about food anyway, right? I’m trying to decide what I should take. (Mozzarella cheese maybe?)
I’m looking at picking from some of these ideas:
- Angeled Eggs
- Black Bean Salsa
- Cream Cheese Salsa Dip
- Ranch Cheese Ball
- Ranch Potato Wedges
- Spicy Avocado Dip
- Strawberry Yogurt Fruit Dip
- Super Simple Chip Dip
- Caramel Apple Dip
- Any of the Desserts listed on this page
- Any of the ideas from the list Amy compiled
- Any of the ideas from Jessica’s Ultimate Super Bowl Recipe Swap.
Are you going to a Super Bowl Party? What are you taking? Can someone help me out here and tell me who in the world is playing? Who should I root for?

I found your website via PaulasBread.com :-) Thank you for your Christian mentorship! My Mom makes her own mozzarella cheese and doesn’t give two cents for football, too. She’s my hero!
The Indianapolis Colts are playing the New Orleans Saints. I was planning on rooting for the Colts because their coach Tony Dungy is an upstanding witness for Christ (you can hear some interviews with him on Focus on the Family). But now my husband told me Dungy has been retired for a while. So that’s about as up to date as I am on football. I was probably told by someone that he retired…but perhaps I didn’t hear as I was eating something scrumptious. Hehe!

Hello from a definite NOT A FOOTBALL FAN. I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t know (and frankly, doesn’t care) who’s in the super bowl. I’m not even sure when it is, so obviously I’m not going to the party, any party. And I live in Texas, where football is the major religion. Definitely talk to the other gals, don’t even go near the t.v.

LOL, I’m a fan but even I had to double check the other day as to who is playing as it’s not any of “my teams”. The Indianapolis Colts & New Orleans Saints are playing and the game is in Florida this year. I’m rooting for the Colts, always liked their quarterback (Peyton Manning) and have never been a Saints fan.
We’ve been invited to a party but with little ones who have to get to bed, would have to leave part way through it so we’ll probably stay home. I primarily watch it for the commercials anyways. Hubby is a huge football fan so we have games on most every Saturday & Sunday (and Monday night) so I’m done when the season is over :-)

I don’t know who is playing either and don’t care to know :). I like college football more. I do usually like the commercials though. But now they are so distasteful and crude its hard to get past that.

Our church’s young married couples group is having a super bowl party. I only know who is playing from others talking about it. We are not big sports fans at my house. My husband will watch if it is available, but does not go out of his way to do it. So he will actually watch the game and I will talk and eat. Plus there will be a short devotional time during half time. Not sure what I am taking yet. Leaning towards a dessert of some type.

Thank you so much for posting this! I don’t know who is playing, and I don’t really care (woops), but these are great party foods for any occasion!!!

I’m always clueless too about who’s playing who in football…but I know how to shout and holler when my hubby does during the games…that’s all that counts. Right? lol
I just show my support by making his favorite treats. (:

I don’t like football, I find it ONE of the dumbest sports, along w/Nascar (cars going around in circle, GMAB!)!
I knew who was playing but that was about it. But we are hosting a SuperBowl party. So today, I’m going out and getting all the JUNK needed. (plates, cups, food) It’s suppose to snow here, Friday into Saturday. Up to a foot a snow is expected. But the weather people are always off by 6-9″, so we’re expecting 2-3″ if that lol.

I only know who is playing because my husband’s team “could have” made it to the superbowl, except they lost in the nfc/afc championship games. I don’t even know if they’re nfc or afc. I do not follow football, except to follow the minnesota vikings with my husband. If they win, its a good day, if they lose, it’s a bad one. :/ It’s important for me to follow this as it helps me know his mood!
Since we live in Thailand, the game will be live during the school day, and nobody will be able to “party”. My husband will probably tape it and watch it after he gets home.
Enjoy the food, whatever it is!

Our community group is starting back up with a Super Bowl Party after a long Christmas break. I am bringing your delicious soft pretzels!
All the time I was growing up, the women and their daughters went in a bedroom to hang out while the men and sons watched games. In my husband’s family, the women actually watch sports. Major culture shock! I don’t get what’s so interesting (I’ll play sports any day of the week, buy why do I want to watch people I don’t know play???) I think I’ve had a hard time getting to know the women in his family because we miss that good girl talk time!

I didn’t know who was playing either!!! You crack me up! We’re going to party with some church friends, so my main goal is to socialize, observe how crazy the commercials are and, of course, EAT!!! I’m playing with some recipes of mine for appetizers. I took my dinner roll recipe and rolled it out into 4 rectangles, smeared it with cream cheese, minced onion, bacon chunks (already fried). Rolled up the rectangles, sliced (liked cinn. rolls), baked at 350 til golden. YUMMMM!! It wasn’t as flavorFUL as I had hoped, so the next time I do it, I might use sharp cheddar instead of cream cheese and see what happens! These were still good though!! My girlies LOVED them!
