Our family loves supporting our hometown York College athletics. As YC alum, we have a huge heart for the students and are so thankful to be right here in town, able to be a part of the lives of so many young people.
Last weekend, I was privileged to go on a trip to Branson with our ladies basketball team. They played two tough games – the final games of the season. I am so thankful that it worked out for me to join them. I love cheering the ladies on as they play, and have appreciated the opportunity to be an encouragement to them off the court as well.
You know the best part about taking a long road trip with a big group of people? Developing relationships. We had some great visits – and oh yes – we did have some big laughs. :) Ever been to Lambert’s? Fried okra and “throwed rolls” in abundance! And oh yes, I did catch a roll or two. (FYI, when offered margarine at a restaurant, if you ask for real butter, they will typically bring some to you. Couldn’t have a Lambert’s roll without real butter now, could I?)
Here I am with the head coach and one of our senior players. Love these gals!
I am so thankful that Matt and the boys were able to hold down the fort while I was gone, and even more thankful for the hugs and kisses I received when I walked in the door when we arrived home. I am also very thankful that I was able to go along and support the team.
And now…to get all caught up on sleep and laundry. ;)

Love Lambert’s! We live in Michigan but my husband is from Missouri. We visit family once a year in Missouri but haven’t ate there in about 10 years. Defiantly need to go this year, my kids never experienced it. Branson is awesome, love silver dollar city, great family park.

Sounds like a yummy trip!

It must make you feel so proud of your family for supporting you the way they do. Have a wonderful Tuesday :)

Love Lamberts! Glad we live in Michigan so we can’t go very often, otherwise I might want to go once a month! We have family in Springfield and we’ve only been twice in the last 10 yrs.
Kristin @ Fiskerelli Bellies says
Lambert’s must be a midwest thing, but it sure sounds like fun!
Gail Griner Golden says
Sounds like so much fun. Love the idea of them throwing rolls at you. I’d love to visit there if I ever make it to Branson.
Blessings,

We were in college ministry for the first few years of our marriage and loved it! What a wonderful opportunity for you to share this trip with the GBB team!

Yay for girl time! Trips are such a fun way to make new relationships. I’m glad you had a great time. I bet you where such a blessing to the ladies on the team. You may never know the impact you had on some of them.

Ah, you were down in my part of the country! I live in Nixa, just west of Ozark. Branson is a fun town, and can be a great family vacation (although I would go May or September… during the summer months can get really busy and frustrating driving). And Silver Dollar City is must more enjoyable when it’s not 100 degrees! :)
Glad you had a great trip!!

Glady you had time to relax and enjoy your friends! We need that from time to time.

God has been working though my life this past week through life and death. Last Thursday my 1st niece was born, and on Friday she went to be with the Lord. Not even 24 hours old. I am so thankful for the peace of knowing Heaven is a wonderful place, filled with glory and grace! I am thankful that I know Reagan is in the arms of our Lord and in no more pain. I am thankful for the many many friends and family who have come together to serve not just my family, but to especially pour out their love and support upon my sister and brother-in-law. Even though we are confused and angry after hundreds of faithful people were praying for complete healing and our prayers were not answered they way we wanted, I am still thankful that God is faithful and his plan is greater than we can ever imagine.

Thank you for sharing this and for your perspective of joy during your time of grief. God bless your family as you heal.
Brooke says
Thank you Laura.

My husband discovered Lambert’s on a business trip. It was all he talked about: the food, the thrown rolls… he couldn’t wait to head back there… and he did. Now he’s hoping the whole family can head out there one of these days. It’s a long way from NoVA though… unfortunately.

It’s great that you are being intentional about making a difference in the younger generation. Your setting a Godly example that will make a difference in their lives!
God Bless!

I am thankful to live in a house (that God has recently provided for us!!) that is located in a neighborhood! In our last house, we lived right off a busy highway, so I drove 6 miles to a safe neighborhood to walk. Now I can just walk out the door! I love the sunshine on my face…how a walk can lift my spirits…how I feel so good afterwards…the tranquility of the location…the mountains (I live in VA) in the background, covered with snow. I feel blessed that I was able to take my time this morning & take in the beauty of God’s creation!!
Lisa @ Happy in Dole Valley says
You are such a sports family! We’re just not that into it anymore (but I would give just about anything to go to a Steelers’ game in Pittsburgh where I was born!). Glad you got to get away, fellowship, feast, and minister God’s love to these gals, Laura. :)
Sharing a post about a rather productive Saturday and how thankful I am to be “back in the groove” of things…finally.
Thanks for hosting! ~Lisa

I think the best part about being away from home is the coming home part. :-) Minus the laundry of course. I wish I had a laundry fairy.

That is so neat that you were here in Missouri! Who doesn’t love Lambert’s?! We live in central MO & visit Branson often. Lots of family fun! Who won the game?
Laura says
Unfortunately, we lost both games over the weekend. :(

I can’t believe you were in Branson and I didn’t get a chance to meet you!! I have so enjoyed your blog and your recipes. I thank God for you and the way you have ministered to me in such a practical way.

We live 30 minutes south of St. Louis, MO, but we are very familiar with “The Home of the Thrown Rolls” & endless plate option, although, I never have required that much food! I’m glad you got a girls trip in. I can only imagine how all your males greeted you when you returned. It’s not home without Mama!
Annette @ In All You Do says
I have very fond memories at Lambert’s! We visited several times during my college years (I went to school in Joplin). And last summer we stopped on our way back from Branson. Our two boys LOVED the throwed rolls!! So much fun!

I hit enter instead of where to put my url, so only the second one is appropriate for today’s link-up ;-D. I’ve been working on helping my younger boys grow into adulthood by teaching them to embrace responsibility!

Wow…I would love to go to Branson. My grandmother and great aunt take a trip there each year, and they say it’s just wonderful. I’m sure you had a great time, and I bet it was a huge blessing to both you and the girls on the team. :)

I have never been to Lamberts so when I found this recipe I had to make them. My family loved them! Yet, I can’t compare it to Lamberts since I’ve never been there. Here is her recipe from her site.
