Let me tell you a little bit about my Nana.
My Nana is 83 years old, but she acts like she’s 63. (I totally hope I have her genes!) She can still get down on the floor and play with her great-grandkids, she goes out to lunch with her friends, she goes shopping…she’s so much fun!
Here is my family with Nana
the summer of 2008 during a family reunion.
Lately, something really cool has been happening between my Nana and me.
Email.
She lives in Arkansas, so we only see each other at family reunions every other year or so. Lately, we’ve been emailing back and forth. They are such treasured emails. I’ve been loving it! She writes of memories of me when I was born and she came to help my mom…she tells me sweet things I said to her when I was a little girl…she encourages me as I parent my boys.
It has been the neatest thing. I plan to save these emails from her in a folder because they are so wonderful to read.
One of Nana’s favorite words is “precious”. Nana has told me hundreds of times how precious I am and how precious Matt is and how precious my boys are.
And now we have these precious emails.
I’m so thankful for my precious Nana.

Awww, so sweet! What a blessing to have those emails to treasure and pass on to your sons and great-grandkids someday!

Precious children ! : this morning I went to the kitchen and saw my 2 children sitting opposite the table and having breakfast together (daughter 19 and baby boy (???) 17), our 10 years cat lying between them, and I thought to myself: what a wonderful picture ! How lucky we are to be able to still have them at home, how blessed I am to pamper them, and give them nice study years with low stress ! Be blessed too, all of you !

That’s precious. :)
I would make sure you back up those emails, so they’re somewhere safe. Maybe someday you can have them all printed up and bound as a keepsake?

Ahhh…My grandmother, at 94, has just enough strength left to smile and hold my hand and scratch out with a quiet voice how much she loves me and how happy she is that we have a family that is so big and that all loves each other. And, to me, this is a treasure. We never shared many eltters and email is a mystery to her, but certain sayings and stories of my Grammy will echo in my mind for years to come, and her smile and love will be with me forever. I feel so privilged that my children have had a moment to share in it. I also am glad that we live in a country where a culture of life – for families great and small – can continue. That’s what my gratituesday post is about today. (Forgive the politics, but it is what is on my mind…)
