Gratituesday: Online Community

It’s finally March, and I could write a 2,000 word blog post about how grateful I am that winter is drawing to a close and spring is right around the muddy little corner.
But, I’ll spare you.
What I will share though is that while the long, cold days of winter can seem never-ending…they have been much more bearable because I never feel completely alone and void of adult conversation.
I may be cooped up in the house with a bunch of kids all day having frequent animated conversations about Darth Vader and Yoda. I may have very few opportunities to be outside getting fresh air. I may have Nerf bullets flying around me and kids launching themselves off the stair case in an effort to burn off wintertime energy.
But I remain sane (relatively speaking of course).
Because I have you.
Through your comments and emails, I am a part of a community that takes me to a warmer climate, a comfortable sofa, a cozy tea party.
The online community I am honored to enjoy with you here has made my winter more bearable. I don’t feel cooped up and alone.
I feel as though I am surrounded by friends.
I am so very grateful for you.

What a sweet way to put it! I too enjoy reading along, eventhough I seldom comment, nor do I have a blog (does that make me a “lurker”?). I love your recipes and especially enjoy your posts on becoming a better helpmeat to my husband. We are coming up on our 37th wedding anniversary, but I still need to be reminded to be the best Godly wife I can be to my dear husband. Thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your life.

So, I was reading the “Life as Mom” blog and clicked over to your site…I love it.
I am trying very hard to become a better homemaker, cooking from scratch, healthy etc…I even purchased a bread machine and made my first loaf of bread…not bad…could have been better. When I saw the receipe from your site for pretzels I was so excited….I love pretzels and this is actually something my six year old son will also eat. These sounded so healthy I wanted to try them immediately. I thought I would half the receipe, since we are only a family of three. I ended up with a huge sticky mess that I threw in the garbage. Do you keep adding flour so you can knead the dought? The dough in the bowl just stayed soft and sticky no matter how much flour I added. Do you need to use a glass bowl? I used stainless…maybe the bowl was to warm?

I guess I do keep adding flour until the dough is the right consistency. I’ll go edit the recipe to clear that up. I’m so sorry you had such a mess. I think using glass is best, but it isn’t neccessary for this recipe. My guess is that there just wansn’t enough flour. :(
