Okay, so I've been a mother for a little over 5 weeks, I don't exactly need a break yet. But the most surprising/hardest thing for me to get used to is that I'm NEVER off duty. I get little breaks sometimes when she's sleeping and lets me lay her down, when her daddy is home, or when she's happily cooing in her bouncer (although she's irresistable then!), but as a breastfeeding mother, I can't just say, "Okay, tonight I'm going to have a full night's sleep" or "I'm going shopping for a few hours--by myself!" Of course the other suprising thing is that despite being sleep deprived, behind on everything, and desperately needing to run errands that would be complicated with a one month old, I really don't want to leave her--ever. I think by the time we can be separate for a few hours without harm, I will be ready for a break. But this mother stuff does not allow for much down time! Enjoy!

I love a quiet house! I almost never have one, but I do love it. Sometimes though I just don't know what to do with myself!

Oh, I totally know what you mean about enjoying free time! My kids are at Avon's as I type... such a blessing indeed. I never realized how much I needed it until the drive back home. I drove most of the way in silence and felt like a whole new woman by the time I walked in the door!

I recently started working outside of the home. It is only about 20 hours a week, but I found myself in a similar situation yesterday. I finished up work at about 2 p.m., headed downstairs to the Frontier cafe, sat in one of their cozy armchairs overlooking the river, and plugged in my laptop for about an hour and a half of uninterrupted computer time. Luxurious!

We must be in the same stage of life! I wrote my post yesterday; couldn't believe the subject of your Gratituesday when I came over this morning to link up! Hope we both enjoy a few more moments of quiet this week!

Oh, wow. I'd be grateful, too! LOL. I do have moments to myself when all are sleeping, but since my boys are still so small, being really and truly alone happens. . .well, never! Someday!

Laura,

I'm so thankful that you had some time to yourself. Every mother needs time for the 4 R's: Rest, Relaxation, Rejuvanation, and Renewal. (There are other R's, of course...my favorite is a rub-down - massage of back/feet...
