Gratituesday: Election Time

By Laura · Nov,03 2008

Since it’s probably on all of our minds here in the U.S., I’ll take a little break from all the Website-Aversary fun to talk a little bit about election day.  (But do make sure you go sign up for giveaways and grab your freebies while you’re here!  Follow this link to catch them all.)

It’s FINALLY here.  Is anyone else just a little bit relieved that this year’s election is finally going to be behind us?

I have felt quite uneasy about the presidential election…as I know a lot of people have.  But here’s why I’m bringing it up and what I’m grateful for this Gratituesday:

God is in control.  No matter what happens and who is elected to be in charge of making decisions for our country…God is in control.  He is the one in charge.  No power is more powerful than His.  We have nothing to fear.

Any unease I feel about the election is wiped away when I remember the One loves me enough to send his son down to this earth to save me.

God is peace.  God is love.  God is good.  He is so, so good.

Please share what you are thankful for!  I’d love to make this the biggest Gratituesday EVER (this being my Website-Aversary week and all).  There are so many things to be grateful for!  Please take the time to write about it on your blog and come over and link up with us so that we can all read about how God is working in your life.  Read the details here…and join in Gratituesday!

You are singing my election song. I’m DONE with this election and all the hype. My job is to vote and pray and leave the rest to the ONE who is truly in charge.

  2. I agree 100%. My husband has been stressing about this for months, but I say God appoints our leaders, He decided this before the beginning of time. We should vote and participate but if we don’t like the outcome God is still in control.
I will be glad when tomorrow, actually I will be glad when Wednesday is over because I will finally see the OB and hopefully get a due date! Ha, priorities!

UGH! I left the wrong link before (see above comment). I have a NEW BLOG ADDRESS! And I should have posted TWO Gratituesdays this week. One for my football family AND one for the awesome bloggy friends who know what they’re doing and got me up and running!

Thank you, Laura for helping us keep things in perspective. I invite everyone to my post today to see a series of pictures that will encourage this same thought process. Today, I choose to trust in GOD!

Last week I wrote a similar post. Our church leaders have done a great job of putting the election into the Godly perspective it should be. Visit my post of a bulletin article at our church and visit Steve Sikes’ blog for another great article.

Great Post! Both my blogs are about voting today and the one on http://www.akindredheart.com echoes similar thoughts. The other one on http://www.teresakindred.com is more about why women in particular should vote. Can you tell I’m passionate about this issue! Guess it’s the history teacher in me!

  12. Happy Website-Aversary! I love your post, definitely a reminder we could all use this election day.

I’m also very thankful today that my daughter is feeling better-she had been running a very high fever, but is now on the mend.

    Blessings!

I will be so HAPPY when I don’t have to listen or watch another political commercial!!! I do however have to remind myself that God is in control and He will put the candidate that HE wants in office!

This is the exact conversation that I had with my husband this morning as we were getting ready for the day. We just returned from voting and I too am relieved that my part is over and that God is in control of the outcome!
