While we typically claim to be a soccer family, we’re loving basketball season right now too. From going to York College games to going to our oldest son Asa’s games – we’re sitting on many a bleacher these days. We love every minute of it and really appreciate that Asa (14) is a part of a wonderful homeschool basketball team. The friendships he has made by being a part of this group have been priceless.
Last week was “Parent Appreciation Night” during our Falcon home game. A friend of ours got some great pictures that night, so I thought it would be fun to show you my fun, smart, and sometimes goofy teenager.
Asa presented me with flowers during the Parent Appreciation part of the assembly. Don’t ask me what we were having a conversation about here. Yes, he and I often like to talk smack. ;)
Here, he decided to continue the goofiness, even though we were trying to get a nice picture…
Okay, finally. He decided to stop being silly. I love having fun with my teen. And yes, he has grown since I last posted pictures of him and yes, he is now several inches taller than I am.
Here he is later during the game, going up for a shot. I believe that one didn’t go in, but shucks, let’s just not talk about that and pretend that it did.
I’m thankful for basketball season. I’m thankful that my son has this opportunity to be a part of a great team of Christian boys. And I’m super thankful for the relationship I have with my teenager. What a gift.

Love it! I really can’t wait until my boys are old enough and tall enough to play basketball and I can share pictures and be so proud of them like you are of Asa. Thanks for sharing this and these pictures. I feel like I’m viewing one of my friend’s pictures, even though we’ve never met. Thanks for letting us into your life through your blog. You are a blessing in more ways than you’ll ever know!

I too love basketball season. Our Michael is on the varsity team this year. I love cheering him and his team on. WOW, Asa is getting so tall and looks just like his Dad, very coool.
Elisabeth says
How wonderful that your son is able to play on a home school team. We don’t have any kind of sports teams for our guys. My husband takes our son often to play against other people at a big sports complex, but he would like to play on a team.
Rachel says
Praise God for good relationships with our children :). You look like one happy mama! :)
Dottie says
Oh my, I can’t believe Asa has grown so much! What a blessing he must be to you and Matt. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Stacy @Stacy Makes Cents says
Wow! He IS getting tall! :-) And I love his goofy expressions – it reminds me of my sister.
Thanks for hosting again Laura. :-)

We have 16 and 15 yo boys…. I love having teens also. Last night Tim (dh), Ben and Aaron were wrestling in our small dining room. Bang, kathump, crash….they were really going at it. It was interesting watching the hubby trying to keep up with one boy taller now and other one just plain strong. I LOVE HAVING TEENS….especially boys. :)
PreceptGirl says
We just finished basketball and it was great. I have girls so it is all together different watching them as opposed to boys!
Audra Marie says
I have one of my six that is taller than me so far. Another may pass me soon. Isn’t it nice to laugh and be goofy with our teens? :)

Love it! I look forward to my son’s basketball tournament this weekend as I finally to get to go watch. His senior high team rarely plays in our town, instead traveling elsewhere most weekends. This weekend he’ll play in town. My husband also coaches (a different team) and refs so what a busy season for us too.
Kika@embracingimperfection says
I just noticed that my link-up only shows my name rather than the name of my post. Can you tell me how to fix that?
Queen of the House says
I too, am the proud mother of 3 basketball-playing boys, ages 9, 13 and 15. The two oldest are taller than me, and I just love it! It is super busy, but I am so thankful that God has blessed us with these healthy, strong boys! :D
Amy Bradsher says
It’s wonderful that you two are so close!

Awesome family and pictures! And you look like you’re 20. Seriously, what do you use (or not use) on your skin? Whatever it is, it’s working :) Thanks for sharing.
Laura says
WOW, thanks for making my day!! I love it when people think I look young! :) All I use on my face is MadeOn Hard Lotion bar: https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/my-favorite-lotion-bar-for-only-1. I stopped wearing make-up years ago, so my “get ready for the day” routine is pretty boring. :)
Kristi says
Do you wash your face with anything? Or just use the lotion daily? Sorry to be so nosy, I’ve just been trying and trying to find something natural and easy for months that I think will work but don’t want to spend much money just trying out new products unless I know they’re quality :)

My husband and I have been stuggling, both as a couple and individually. Recently we began attending Church. Over the weekend, we had the opportunity to meet with a couple who are very active in the Church and to pray with them, and to receive other opportunities for fellowship from other Church members. We are excited and so very grateful to have “found” our Church home. In and by His grace, my husband and I both recommitted our lives, and our marriage to Christ.
Laura says
Wow, this is so encouraging!! I’m very thankful to hear this and glad that you shared. God is good!

Your site has been very encouraging to me. Thank you!

We’ve just finished 3 weeks of cram-packed basketball games, now into the play-offs. It’s so much fun, even though it gets a little tiring! Sweet pictures :).
Jolene@The Alabaster Jar says
Neat site! This is the first time I have seen it. Thanks for the link up. My boys are 10 and 12 and we’ve homeschooled them since birth. Sports is a big thing in our house so hopefully by the time they are teens we can find a good group of Christian men in-training that they can play with.

I am totally trying to stalk you now – when we homeschooled several years ago the boys basketball team was the falcons – curious if you live near me. LOL!

Hmm, did you live in Nebraska? :)

First off, you REALLY don’t look old enough to be his mom! For real!
Secondly, it’s my first time participating in Gratituesday, although yours is one of the first blogs I started reading and I come back to it often. Hope my post fits the “rules” :)
