We love apples. Over in Japan, they had HUGE apples - Fuji kind. They taste different than the ones you can buy here though. :(Need to make up some apple dishes. Thanks for the links. :D

Mmmmmmmmmm...this sounds just like something I made up when I was a kid. I even wrote out the 'recipe' and put it in my own little cookbook, but it has never been published -- until now, that is!! :)

We like apples added to overnight french toast. Just put a layer of sliced apples in between the layers of bread. yum.

Another variation to the cinnamon apple toast is to spread toast with peanut butter before topping with apple slices and cinnamon.

We got a ton of free apples last year (okay, slightly less than 2000#)... My kids helped chop a lot of them up for apple sauce... Nesco roaster size batch which yielded ~7 quarts canned?? The rest we either sliced or chopped up and put in the freezer for "instant" apple sauce or crisp, adding to smoothies, etc. (I'm thankful for the freezer idea from my beloved MIL with her own small orchard!)

This last week my grocery had jonathans on sale ($1.13/3#), so I brought home 15# and had some kiddos chop up 6# for future applesauce (Thanksgiving likely) I think they can eat the rest fresh since there's only 6# remaining.

Oh, and key to my happy apple preserving is that I do NOT peel them. So they have to chop pretty small pieces, but Y>A>Y> for no peeling!

When I order from my food co-op, Azure Standard...I never really know which items will come in and which items they are out of until I pick up my order. They do not charge my credit card until after they fill my order, so I won't be charged for items I don't receive.

Good question. That doesn't really make sense unless you know how Azure works!

I'll have to try it. Sounds good. I have a question - in the honey bagel recipe it calls for yeast. Is it rapid yeast, or just regular yeast?? I made them this weekend and they didn't really rise much. Could you let me know?! Thanks!

That looks great!

I just bought 40# of apples this weekend (organic apples for 70 cents a pound? Wahoo!). I'm going to peel and slice them all up, cook until just soft in a little coconut oil, and freeze. Easy for little ones to chew up and digest.
