Did You Get Your Coconut Oil? {Offer Still Good Through Tuesday!}

I posted about this over the weekend, but wanted to be sure you all saw this great coconut oil deal at Tropical Traditions .

They are offering a “buy one get one free” deal on their Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil – with free shipping!  Therefore, you can get two quart jars of Tropical Tradition’s high quality Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil for only $25 shipped.  That is a really great deal, and a great way to bring some healthy oil into your kitchen!

I love their expeller pressed oil for its health benefits, but also because this particular oil is flavorless.  It works great anytime I want to fry something (chicken nuggets anyone?).  Because coconut oil is a fat that maintains its great quality at even high temperatures, I don’t have to worry that frying food in it will cause any harmful effects (homemade french fries anyone?).

I tell ya, healthy eating never tasted better.  :)

    Thanks Laura!
I really appreciate all the work you have laid out here on your website. I find you whole food resources so helpful. As a family of six as well, I’m trying to move us slowly to whole real foods. Thanks for the tip on the coconut oil.

I didn’t because I don’t find $25 for a half gallons worth ($50/gallon rate) of refined coconut oil to be a very good deal. Perhaps if it was unrefined but even then I look for better.

Are you able to find virgin coconut oil for less than $50/gallon?
Is this expeller-pressed oil considered refined? I like to have
some of both on hand, but haven’t found virgin coconut oil for less
    than $50/gallon.

Yes, I take expeller pressed to be refined.

The last time I bought coconut oil me and my fiancee each took advantage of the $10 Vitacost coupon to order 216 oz worth of their coconut oil (unrefined organic) for $55.56 shipped, which equals out to $32.92 per gallon.

I bought 4 to stock up, but the deal only requires 2 to get free shiping. The price is the same, take off 10% for the Set & Save, which can be cancelled after it ships, and the $10 coupon to get that price.

What do you have to do to get the buy one get one free…is there a code needed?

No, you’ll just need to scroll down a bit farther on the page until you find the “buy one get one free” deal to put into your cart.

Laura, for various reasons I cut way way back on blog reading. However, I always check yours and if I see save money or sale in the title, I open it! Thanks to you I bought a huge thing of those fruit twists! my kids love those and i feel ok packing them in lunches! and I got more palm shortening and coconut oil.

oh, be so very very glad you don’t have pack lunches where your boys have to eat them at school! you wouldn’t beleive! the compromises you would make! Just to have them eat something!

I also pack supper for softball practices and games. Everyone thinks I”m nutty! But hey, I know another nutty mom: you!

Heather, I’m in your boat! Trying to pack healthy lunches for kids is a chore!! I’d be interested to know what you send. Mine usually have…PB&J (a healthy version), some “healthier” chips or crackers, fresh fruit, usually a yogurt that has been frozen, & a “healthy” fruit/veggie drink. I’m just now getting into eating “Laura’s Way”, & this is one of the hardest areas for me. I change the fruit & yogurt, sometimes the sandwich, but they mostly have the “same ole thing!” Would love to hear all ideas!:)

After baby #5 was born with MSPI (milk and soy protein intolerance) I had to cut all dairy and soy out of my diet to nurse. Coconut oil is my go to sub for butter in all my recipes- I am going to have to order a ton of these to keep up! Good news is that the coconut oil is healthy, and everything still tastes great!
