Coconut Flour – $2.60/pound

Greta, a Heavenly Homemakers reader, just pointed out this Azukar Organic Coconut Flour for a great price at Amazon.  This may be the best price I’ve seen for coconut flour.  And remember, you use a lot less coconut flour in recipes than you would typically use in wheat flour recipes, which makes this purchase go even further!

In case you need some coconut flour recipes, here’s a great one for Coconut Flour Muffins (that taste like cupcakes!) and Banana Coconut Flour Muffins.

***Update!***

As some of you pointed out, the 32 ounce bags of Azukar Organic Coconut Flour are an even better deal!!  $2.34/pound to buy the larger bags.  Either way, you’re getting 6 pounds of coconut flour - might as well save even more by buying the 32 ounce bags.  Thanks Ladies for pointing this out!

Ordered some, thanks! I had just put some coconut flour in my Azure Standard cart last week. But, this deal is much better, so I ordered from Amazon instead! I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some coconut flour but I’m always too “cheap” to pay full price and end up putting it back on the shelf. I’m excited for this to arrive! :)

Does coconut flour taste like coconut? I had a bad experience with coconut when I was a child and even still I get nauseous when I taste coconut, but I know this would be helpful in reducing the amount of grain my family consumes.

It does have a mild coconut flavor. If you use it with virgin coconut oil, the flavor of coconuts stands out. BUT, if you use it with butter or expeller pressed coconut oil, I don’t notice the coocnut flavor. And if you add a touch of vanilla extract, that really helps mask the flavor of coconut!

Laura, thanks for explaining. I was going to ask about the taste and then I saw your reply to Darcy.:)

Thank you for explaining that. I do use expeller pressed coconut oil because I am afraid of that coconut flavor. I might have to try coconut flour some day (when its in the budget to try something new)!

I’ve been wanting to give this a try, thanks for sharing the great deal! I noticed while ordering this that there is also coconut sugar, have you tried this?

No, I’ve not tried coconut sugar – I haven’t researched it’s nutritional qualitites yet. I’ll have to look into it!

Yep, gluten free! They seemed to have sold out. :( I’ll try to watch for them to stock it again!
