Remember last week’s maple syrup fun?!  I called and had a nice, long chat with a Vitacost manager earlier this week to try and clear up all the confusion.  He listened to everything I had to say, and answered all of my many questions.  Yes, it was a long conversation.  I appreciated that he didn’t get off the phone with me until all of my questions were answered.  He explained to me what happened, which is exactly what I had imagined had happened – with so many of us clicking over and purchasing an item that was priced incorrectly, a system error occurred, causing a big mess of a mess.  That’s not exactly how he said it because he was more professional about it, but you get the picture.

He then explained our situation to Customer Service, who then sent us the following apology.  Not that she was trying to be clever with her wording, but I kind of thought it was fun that Catherine called this a “sticky situation” since we are talking about maple syrup.   Yep, that would describe it all right!  :)

Hi there everyone! My name is Catherine and I am the Social Media Customer Service Rep with Vitacost.com. We wanted to take a second to again sincerely apologize for this sticky situation. The item was priced incorrectly and as a result, the system canceled it with an incorrect reason of “discontinued.” We’re working on an email now to let everyone who ordered know what’s going on and why this happened. I hope that you can forgive us for this honest mistake and continue allow us to take the cost out of healthy living for you! If you need specific customer service assistance about this situation or about anything in the future, please email me directly at customerservicevc@vitacost.com as I would be glad to help.

Thanks for choosing Vitacost.com,
Catherine C

I appreciate that Vitacost did what I was hoping they would do, which is to own up to the mistake and to apologize.  And yes, after visiting with them, I do strongly feel that the mistake was an honest one.  In all my dealings with VitaCost, I have found them to always be willing to work with me as a customer to make sure I am satisfied with my order.  I will continue to be a VitaCost customer.

If you are still having any issues with your order, please don’t hesitate to give them a call or shoot them an email.

Thank you all for your patience.  I appreciate you!

Save Money Online – Healthy Deals

~ This deal sounds a little bit too good to be true, but Tara from Life With Our Five Kids let me know about it…and she checked with Vitacost to be sure that the price was accurate – so here goes!  You can get a 32 ounce jug of Organic Maple Syrup at VitaCost for only $3.92. It looks like they’ve discontinued this item and that this offer is no longer available. :(  That is a crazy, amazingly good price and I don’t know how long it will last.  AND, if you are a new customer with VitaCost, follow this referral link before you place your order so that you can receive a $10 gift certificate to get you started.  With that price on maple syrup, and your $10 off code, you’re looking to get a steal of a deal.  (I trust Coombs brand of maple syrup to be very high in quality, by the way.)

~ Get two 15 ounce containers of Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for only $15.30 at Amazon with subscribe and save.

~ Enjoy Life Soy Free Chocolate Chips are still available at Amazon for $21.65 for six packages.  The supply on these typically runs out quickly, so I was thrilled to see them still available, and for a great price!

~ My very favorite Enjoy Life Soy Free Chocolate Chips are on sale at Amazon for just $21.65 for six packages.  It’s hard enough to find these online, much less for this great price!  Thanks for letting me know about this deal, Stacie!

~ I hardly ever see Sucanat for such a good price at Amazon (or anywhere)!  Jennifer let me know that you can get 12 pounds of Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Sucanat for just $25.70. (Shucks, looks like this deal expired already.)  :(   This is huge savings – hopefully this deal will last!  This post explains more about why I love sucanat.

~ Herbal Bath Salts are 20% off at Mountain Rose Herbs.  Sounds lovely.

~ Grab a $1.00 off coupon for Muir Glen products here.  You’ll also find a $1.00 off coupon for Cascadian Farm products while you’re there.

Save Money Online – Healthy Deals

Posted by: Laura | Comments (10)

Since we’ve been talking about the prices of healthy foods this week, I just wanted to remind you to watch for Healthy Online Deals posts like this one, which I try to share once a week if I can.  I always try to post special deals I’ve found around the web that include healthy foods that I like to have on hand.  It’s amazing what you can order for a great price online.  I keep the UPS man busy, that’s for sure!

~ Sweet!  Tropical Traditions is offering free shipping until January 30.  This is always a great time to take advantage of the sales they are offering.  Enter the code 123001 at check-out to have your order shipped for free.  You can see a list of all my favorite Tropical Traditions products here.  And,  if you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for the Pampering Package Giveaway Tropical Traditions is offering.

~ I’m really learning to appreciate VitaCost as a great online resource for healthy foods.  Shipping is free on all orders over $49.  I noticed that they are offering several products at 66% off, until 1-31-12.  Some of the 66% off items that stood out to me were their Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta and Aluminum Free Baking Soda. A large selection of their Yogi Tea is also on sale for 47% off.  If you’re a new customer with VitaCost, be sure to get your $10 off code here.  Who doesn’t love ten free dollars to spend on healthy groceries?!

~ I shared this deal last week, and am excited to see that it’s still good this week too.  You can buy two 54 ounce tubs of Nutiva Coconut Oil at Amazon for only $37.35 with subscribe and save.  This is a great deal on coconut oil.  You can read about why I love coconut oil here.

~ Highland Sugarworks has their quart jug of maple syrup on sale again for only $15.62 at Amazon with Subscribe and Save.  It’s tough to beat that price!

Nature’s Path Organic Crispy Brown Rice Cereal is $19.07 for a case of six box if you use subscribe and save at Amazon.  I love having this cereal on hand for the occasional “Mom can’t make breakfast” mornings, or so that I can make a quick treat of Healthy(er) Rice Crispy Treats.  (Thanks, Expressions of Perceptions!)

Here are a few of the healthy deals I’ve found around the web this week:

~ You can buy two 54 ounce tubs of Nutiva Coconut Oil at Amazon for only $37.35 with subscribe and save.  This is a sweet deal on coconut oil!  You can read about why I love coconut oil here.

~ Get four bags of Bob’s Red Mill Organic Brown Rice Flour for $12.32 with subscribe and save.

~ You can make homemade Larabars, which I think is awesome.  But lately, I’ve really appreciated the convenience of being able to have the ready-made bars on hand to grab and take with us to basketball games.  Right now, most boxes of Larabars are 27% off at VitaCost.  If you are a new customer with VitaCost, you’ll receive a $10 coupon code if you purchase through this referral link.  That makes for an incredible deal.  Read more about the VitaCost Referral Program here.  (Larabars are gluten free if this is a need you have.)

~ Just a reminder that you’ll find several free eBooks in our Heavenly Homemakers Shop.  And don’t forget our free Healthy Marriage Tips from A to Z eBook.

Here are a few healthy deals I found to share with you this weekend:

~ Tropical Traditions is offering a buy one get one free deal on their Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil.  This is their flavorless coconut oil, which gives you all the nutritional benefits of coconut oil without a coconuty flavor.  It’s great for frying foods.  Who knew, fried foods can be healthy!  :)

~ What have you learned about coconut sugar?  It’s new to me, but it appears to be a pretty healthy sugar option.  You can get six pounds of Madhava Organic Coconut Sugar at Amazon for $15.99 with subscribe and save.

~ It looks like Enjoy Life Soy Free Chocolate Chips are available again at Amazon.  They never tend to keep their supply long, so act fast if you want some!  These are my chocolate chips of choice, to have on hand when I don’t feel like making homemade chocolate chips.

~ Mountain Rose Herbs has a huge supply of organic spices and herbs for a great price.  Plus, be sure to check out their monthly specials.  The variety of great items they offer is amazing to me!

~ This week, I ordered a gallon jug of my favorite, non-toxic shampoo:  Giovanni 50-50 Balanced Hydrating Shampoo.  I was pleased to find it at VitaCost for $49.92, as well as at Amazon for the same price.  Shipping is free from both places.  (VitaCost offers free shipping on all orders over $49.)  In addition, if you are a new customer with VitaCost, you can go through this referral link and receive a free $10 discount – no catch.  Then, you can get the shampoo for only $39.92 – awesome!  I am really enjoying VitaCost as a source for healthy food and beauty products.

~ Highland Sugarworks is offering a one quart jug of grade b real maple syrup for just $15.62 with subscribe and save at Amazon.

~ Tropical Traditions has a buy one get one free sale on their Virgin Coconut Oil, making each 32 ounce jar of their highest quality coconut oil only $20 each.

~ I enjoy having cans of Natural Value YellowFin Tuna on hand for quick meals.  Get a case of 24 cans at Amazon for $44.23 with subscribe and save.

~ I am learning the benefits to Coconut Water (full of electrolytes; can be used to make water kefir) – and found that you can get a 12-pack of Vita Coco Coconut Water at Amazon for $15.89.  Use subscribe and save, plus the coupon code:  COCOV444 to receive this price.  Anyone have some experience with coconut water they’d like to share?

~ Tropical Traditions is offering free shipping now through November 21 when you enter the code 2111011 at check-out!  Their Omega 3 Antioxident Greens are available right now for 35% off.  I take a dose of this supplement each morning before I fix breakfast, and it gives me super powers!  Totally kidding, but it is good stuff for sure.  ;)  Check out all of my favorite Tropical Traditions products here.

~ Every once in a blue moon, I find Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips for a good deal on Amazon.  When this happens, I grab them up because they don’t last long!  It doesn’t look like there’s very many packages left - so grab quickly if you’re interested.  I like having these on hand because they are soy free and easy to add to recipes when I don’t have homemade chocolate chips prepped.  Hurry to purchase if you’re interested in these!

~ I am so excited about this great deal at VitaCost!  If you’re a new customer, you will be given a free $10 certificate to use in their shop.  Read more about how this VitaCost certificate works here. I had no idea that they have over 35,000 healthy grocery, vitamins, supplements and bath products.  With your certificate, for only the $4.99 shipping cost, you can get a jar of coconut oil, some bottles of organic ketchup, bottles of healthy hair conditioner, or all kinds of other items that are priced around $10.   I’m so excited to discover VitaCost as an online buying option.

~ Remember to sign up to win a $25 gift certificate to Savvy Teas and Herbs.  Plus, Savvy Teas and Herbs is offering 10% off any order when you use the code SAVE10.

~ This one isn’t a food deal, but I noticed that Amazon is offering Black Friday sales already – be sure to take a look around to see if there’s anything there you’ve got on your shopping list.

Saving Money Online – Healthy Deals

Posted by: Laura | Comments (2)

I’ve been away from home for most of today and unable to do much searching online for deals.  Two deals are better than no deals though, right?  This Tropical Traditions special mentioned is pretty exciting if you ask me!

~ Tropical Traditions is offering 10% off your entire order when you use the code 11201107 at check-out.  This is a great deal, especially since they are also running a buy one get one free sale on Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil.  Expeller pressed coconut oil is flavorless and great to use in frying or when you don’t want a coconut flavor in your foods.  This deal ends at midnight on Monday,  November 7.

Rapunzel Organic Whole Cane Sugar is $21.98 for nine pounds with Subscribe and Save at Amazon.  This isn’t the best price I’ve ever found, but it certainly isn’t bad, especially if you don’t have another source.  ;)
