Now, I do have to say that yesterday, I proved to myself how much I love my Flexi-Clips.  Apparently, I have begun to take them for granted.  I am so used to wearing them every day and being completely comfortable, that I forgot how nice they are on my head.

Yesterday, I pulled my hair up into a regular ol’ hair rubberband, just to get it out of my face, because all of my Flexi-Clips were in another room, and I was much to lazy to take the extra steps to go get one.  I figured I’d swap it out once I went downstairs – but nope.  I forgot.  I then left to go out of town for the day, and was then far, far away from my Flexi-Clips.

I kid you not…all day long I was wishing I had a Flexi-Clip.  My hair kept slipping out of the band, plus the band kept pulling my hair.  Ouch!  My Flexi-Clips never pull my hair.  And they always stay in place.

Never again will I be too lazy to take the extra steps to go get my Flexi-Clip.  I knew I loved them, but yesterday proved this to me once again!

What is a Mushroom Box?  It’s an awesome mushroom garden you can actually grow in your house, right out of the box!  The boys and I are super excited to get started on this fun, healthy food project.

By the way, I’ve only recently decided that I like mushrooms.  What was wrong with me, thinking I didn’t like mushrooms?  Who knows.  But what great timing for me to grow my own mushrooms, now that I actually realize how much I like them!

The boys and I plan to get our mushroom box going tonight.  This box will grow one and half pounds of mushrooms – won’t that make some great salads, soups, pizza….

I’ll keep you posted on our mushroom box progress.  It seems like the easiest project ever!

Nourishing Traditions is a huge healthy foods cookbook.  I’m not sure if you knew this about me or not, but I LOVE recipes!  Oh, you knew that already?  How did you figure it out?  :)

I’ve used many of the recipes found in Nourishing Traditions, and I’ve used the ideas found in the book to teach myself to adapt many of our other favorite recipes into healthy dishes.  But my favorite part of Nourishing Traditions is the first 70 pages of nutritional information. That is where I learned about which fats are healthy, and why.  That is where I learned about which sweeteners are best, why grinding flour is a good choice – oh so much great information!  Without gushing too much, I’d have to say that reading Nourishing Traditions changed my life and the way I feed my family.  I am so thankful!

Now, I do also need to say that this book also completely overwhemed me and turned me, for a short(ish) time, into a bit of a food freak.  It so clearly defines health and nutrition that I found myself scared to feed my family anything less than the absolute finest, organic-est, non-processed-est, sourdough-est…you get the picture.  After I calmed down a bit, I decided to take the information in the book that had helped me really understand what nourishment is, and simply do the best I can.  I can’t do a perfect job feeding my family.  But what a blessing to have a basic knowledge of true nutrition.  We’ve never felt better!

More Than Alive, a wonderful resource offering water filters, bulk herbs, bulk foods, and more – also carries many great books, including the lovely Nourishing Traditions.  I encourage you to check out all the great items they offer.  I love that they sell Rapadura (sucanat), raw almonds, coconut flour – so many of the ingredients I love to have on hand.
