Well Then…Let’s Just Have a Giveaway!

September 19, 2008

Did you know I used to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator?  Yep, I used to sell rubber stamps and accessories like crazy.  About the time I was pregnant with Malachi and beginning to homeschool a little more heavily…I decided to give it up.  But, I still think it’s fun to stamp and make cards and I still have a ton of stamps.  A TON.

While I was cleaning out my guest room/office a while back…I came across a few brand new stamp sets from my saleslady days.  I just don’t need them.  Do you want them?

I thought you might.  So I decided…let’s have a giveaway why don’t we?  Then, you and your family can sit down together this fall and create some wonderful cute cards and gifts to encourage others.  You wanna?

I’ve got two sets here to pick from.

stampset1sm.JPG  stampset2sm.JPG

I’ll be randomly drawing two winners on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 5:00 pm Friday at noon, CST.  I’ll let the first person I draw pick out which stamp set she wants, then the second winner can have the remaining set.  Ooh, how fun!

Leave a comment and tell me why you’d like to win these stamp sets.  What kind of ministry might you do with them?  How might you use them to spend time with your children?

I think I’ll pull out some of my other stamp sets now and get busy.  Just looking at these makes me want to create something!

***Thank you all for participating!***

I’d love to have such beautiful stamps. I’m in the process of teaching my kiddos the ministry of sending notes to people (get well, encouragement… you get the picture). My boys don’t mind it, but my girls ADORE it. We think of four people who need blessing, and each of my children creates a card, writes the message, and addresses the envelope. That’s right… I’m a homeschool mom and I can encourage good handwriting skills, sentence structure, and addressing an envelope! Gotta love doing all these things at once, AND it blesses someone else.

Thanks for the giveaway, whether I receive anything or not… you made me want to start a new list of blessings for my kiddos.

I would love the first set! My daughters love using stamps! They love to make pictures and cards for friends and family.

  4. Heather G says:

My boys love making cards to send to family and friends far away. The first set with the stick figures would be perfect for them.

  5. Lenetta says:

Both are so pretty! (Have to say I like the first one best, too . . .) Hmm, how would we use them? Well, it would probably be me gently directing the 18-month old to NOT poke the ink pad and smear fingerprints all over the kitchen. That’s how our quality time rolls around here some days. But once she gets a little older? I think we could have a whole buncha fun. Especially since I’ve scarcely bought a card for anything in a few years - I’ve been making them all. Thanks, Laura - this is neat!

  6. Michelle C. says:

I would love to win the first set. I direct a childrens group at our church using Contenders for the Faith and Keepers at Home. We are starting into our third year. Every year we go to the local nursing home for Christmas and for Easter. We always take along little gifts to pass out to the residents. This year we decided to hand make Christmas cards to take along. The children have a wonderful time making gifts for the residents and the residents enjoy receiving them.Thank you.

  7. Gina says:

I have been trying to get started making cards, so this would be perfect for me! We have started a “Secret Sister” program at our church, and I wanted something a little more personal than store-bought cards!

    September 19th, 2008 at 8:38 pm

  8. Becky says:

What nice stamp sets those are… and just laying around your house? How kind of you to offer them up to your readers!

My husband and I come from large families, so there are always special occasions happening throughout the year - usually 2 or 3 birthdays a month, and then anniversaries and general holidays on top of those. None of our family lives close by, and we love to make cards for our relatives to let them know we’re thinking of them on their special day. A nice new fancy stamp set would help out so much that way! My older two kids just love a good art project, but we haven’t had a lot of chances to experiment with stamps!

    September 19th, 2008 at 8:41 pm

  9. Susan says:

These are just so cute! Thank you so much for doing this giveaway!

I just discovered the art of cardmaking and I just don’t have much in the way of stuff to work with. We are on a tight budget, so I don’t get to spend money often for things of this nature, so to win would mean that I’d have something cute to create with.

    September 19th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

  10. Julie says:

Oh, Laura! What a generous giveaway! I’d love to win them.

I’ve been teaching my children the art of frugality and think that these could be a great teaching tool. We could use them to make cards and gifts instead of buying them. I have a few stamps, but would love to add to the collection!

    Thanks so much!

    September 19th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

  11. Mirissa says:

What a wonderful giveaway. This would be so much fun to have. We are really working on trying to show our appreciation for all that we have and these would be wonderful for making thank you notes and gift tags for all the community helpers in our life.

    September 19th, 2008 at 9:57 pm

  12. rebecca says:

I want these stamps because I only have 2 stamps. One if them is my name. I don’t know why i bought it, since after stamping the inside of all my notebooks, I had no use for it. It wasn’t even a cool “This was stolen from Rebecca” stamp.
(FYI I really don’t need the stamps as there is no way I would even consider buying some for myself) But they are fun. I mean the second and only other stamp I own was for decorating baby shower invitations. And yes it was fun and really cute. Maybe I should incorporate stamps into my scrapping…the world needs more of my name!

  13. Jessica C says:

My 10 year old daughter and I would love to make something with this together.

    September 19th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

  14. Org Junkie says:

Well I’d love to win them for my daughter, she is much more crafty than I am and would absolutely love them!

    September 19th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

  15. Jennifer says:

Oh, I love the second set. We have a tradition of going to the beach and love looking for sand dollars together as well. They would also be great for encouraging nature studies and learning more about God’s creation. Someone is going to get a great gift!

    September 19th, 2008 at 11:54 pm

  16. Kin says:

    Wow, they’re lovely.

I love the second set. My girls (I have 3, but the two older ones, since the youngest is only 7 months old) and I make cards and wrapping paper for presents. We do a craft and learn about different techniques, AND save money on cards and wrapping paper.

    September 20th, 2008 at 5:28 am

  17. Cara says:

    Oooow! Ahhhhh! Free stamps!
I love to stamp! I make cards with my Stampin’ Up products. Everyone loves to get something in the mail and a homemade card is extra special. It shows you took time to think of the person, especially someone sick or needing encouragement.
What a fun giveaway. Thank you in advance!

  18. Marnie says:

    Hi Laura,
Stamps are great for all kinds of things, lapbooks, cards, gift bags… I have a small Keeper’s of the Faith group and stamping cards is one of the projects that we would like to do this year. Since we don’t have many stamps yet, and we do try to keep the costs of our group down, winning your stamps would be a great help to us. Thankyou for your fun give away!

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:08 am

  19. Courtney says:

I would love to win. Our family has a lot birthdays coming up along with the holidays so it would be great to be able to make homemade cards for everyone.

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:15 am

  20. Candy Cook says:

I’d like to win the stamps because they are fun to play with. That second set looks excellent.. the sand dollar, dragonfly.. very “scientific” looking.. my son would be thrilled. Wednesday, Sept 24 is also my youngest son’s 5th birthday :D Would be nice to win something as I reminisce over the past 5 years of his life.

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:46 am

  21. Emily Kay says:

OOOH! :) I wanna win:) How very sweet of you to give these away. My oldest daughter and I make handmade cards already for, pretty much, all occasions. I don’t have any stamps, though. We usually use scrap booking supplies. These look like so much fun! I just might have to put this kind of stuff on my Christmas-gift-wish-list! THANKS!

  22. Delighting in the Days (Stacy) says:

Those are very nice! I know we would enjoy either one.

    what cute stamps!
as a deacon’s wife, i send a lot of cards to our church family. my three year old loves to write his name when we send them. i also have a sister who is a missionary in cameroon, west africa. i stamp cards for her on a regular basis and send them to her so she can send them back to america…with a note written in them, of course! ;)

    September 20th, 2008 at 8:20 am

  24. amandasue says:

I like the top set of stamps expectually the one in the top left corner with love on it. I like puting stamps on the back of my home-made greeting cards and the love one would be great, and my niece loves to play with all my stamps and then colour the paper once there done!

    September 20th, 2008 at 8:50 am

  25. Kristie McNealy says:

My girls love to make cards and gifts. We are working hard to teach them both the value of money, and the value of a heart felt, handmade token of their love and appreciation. I would love to have these stamps for them to use on their many projects. We homeschool as well, and I love being able to practice handwriting, spelling, etc, while creating lovely notes for family and friends.

    September 20th, 2008 at 9:11 am

  26. Marie says:

OH I love giveaways! I would love either set! My daughter really enjoys drawing and decorating pages for others! A stamp set would make her day! How very nice of you to give these away!

    September 20th, 2008 at 9:16 am

  27. Tanya says:

We would love either set. We have made a calendar of all of our friends and families anniversaries and birthday’s. We make homemade cards and mail them out all year, to encourage them and remind them that they are loved. The kids help make the cards too, as I encourage them to write to their family (all in another state) to keep up handwriting and letter writing skills;)

    September 20th, 2008 at 9:31 am

  28. Amy says:

I would love these stamps! I love to scrapbook and make cards for others! My son is not old enough yet to stamp, but these will be handy to have around when I have nieces and nephews over!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:04 am

  29. Judy says:

Oh, how fun! As a homeschooling mom of six, I’d love to be able to use stamping/card-making as art and writing projects!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:10 am

  30. EG says:

I’d love to gift these to a friend of mine. She stays at home with her boys and makes cards for some fun money. I’ve stamped with her before, but I don’t have the creativity myself. She’d enjoy them, though!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:14 am

  31. Christina says:

These wouls be for my daughters who recently found a passion for scrapbooking! What a fun thing to do together!!!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:18 am

  32. Michele @ Frugal Granola says:

Oh, these would be wonderful for giving cards to the women whom I am ministering to. (There is a group of moms that have started coming to my house, and I would love to encourage them during the week.) My daughter has just discovered crayons, so I know she would enjoy “helping!” :)

    What fun stamps!
    Blessings,
    Michele

  33. Holly says:

I love to scrapbook and my daughter likes to do it along with me-we would have so much fun using those stamps! She’s into making book marks right now-we could make some cute ones with those stamps!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:45 am

  34. chinamama4 says:

Both sets are wonderful, but if I had to choose, I’d probably say the first set. All our family live out of state, and I’m teaching my girls the joy of reaching out to them and keeping in touch. They love making their own cards, and the first set would be a fun tool to use. I’d use the second set to make my own elegant cards!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:47 am

  35. Melanie says:

I have fun making cards; just last week my soon to be 5yo and I stamped her birthday invitations. She loves to do stuff like that together. And I like to try to be an encourager to others.

    What fun!

    September 20th, 2008 at 10:48 am

  36. Julie says:

I love stamps. My girls and I have just started making cards for people. We are having the most fun with it.

    September 20th, 2008 at 11:06 am

  37. Stacey says:

About 2 months ago my 2 kids and I started sending out cards to people in our church. We have been sending little notes to let them know that we appreciate them. Now we have added any birthdays and anniversarys. These stamps would be great to make cards to send out as well. My daughter has been branching out into making her cards. These stamps would realy add to the cards. And you wouldn’t believe how many people have thanked us over and over again for the cards. I guess that everyone likes to get mail. It makes them feel loved and appreciated.
Each set is beautiful. And each set would be great to own. My son likes the smaller ones and my daughter the bigger ones. So it would be a blessing to have either one. What a great giveaway…

    September 20th, 2008 at 12:36 pm

  38. sarah says:

Thanks for hosting an awesome giveaway!! I love stamps and have a few, but in my attempting to save money I’ve been holding myself back from buying more. :) Thanks!!!

    September 20th, 2008 at 12:40 pm

  39. Forgetfulone says:

I would love to win a stamp set. I have scrapbooked for a while, but I am just becoming interested in stamping, and I don’t have much. I want to make my own cards using recycled paper and stop contributing to the big greeting card companies, not to mention that it saves money.

    September 20th, 2008 at 12:44 pm

  40. Michele says:

My mother got me hooked on stamping. That is one thing I can definately blame her for! :-) Our church has silent auction every year and I donate a bunch of hand made birthday, getwell and thinking of you cards and book marks. There is always a bidding war for such personal gifts. Thanks for the generous opportunity!

    September 20th, 2008 at 12:54 pm

  41. Kim says:

I love stamping and so does my daughter! We would probably use the first set to stamp candles and add verses to them. We also make cards and other artwork. Maybe we could make some bookmarks, too. I usually tape a large piece of paper at each child’s place (excluding my 10 month old). And let them stamp a project (cards or gifts), then they can stamp anything they want as we learn a new hymn or Bible verse. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway! I know they will be used to spread some kindness!

    September 20th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

  42. Emily says:

Oh how fun!!! I know exactly what I would do if I won, too! I have a great friend who loves stamping, and I mean LOVES it. She has recently quit work (now just one income) to stay at home with her son (who they recently adopted from Taiwan). They are also trying to save to adopt a little girl. They just don’t have money for things like this any more, and I would love to give it to her!

    September 20th, 2008 at 2:39 pm

  43. Andrea says:

Laura, I love this idea of a give away. Thanks for sharing. I also stamp but have enough. I read each persons reason for wanting the stamps. I would ask you to put Nikki at Angelheart135 in twice (once for me). I love that she plans to use it to minister to sick children. I don’t know any of these women. So my choice is purely because of her ministry.

    September 20th, 2008 at 3:31 pm

  44. Terri says:

I would love to use these stamps with my kiddos to make cards for a nursing home in our area. I think it is so important to teach the children to think of small acts that can brighten someones day. Than you for this contest!

    September 20th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

  45. Lymeade Lady says:

I’d like to use it to encourage my daughter in her artwork by making homemade cards. She’s recently started taking an art class and I’m amazed with what she comes home with and the confidence it builds in her. AND making homemade cards spreads love while being good stewards of our money. :)

    September 20th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

  46. Stevie says:

I’ve recently entered the world of card making and only have a couple stamps so far. These stamps are so cute!

My kids are always asking me for “projects” to do–these would be fun to decorate lunch sacks or make cards for their grandparents aand friends!

    September 20th, 2008 at 3:40 pm

  47. Heart at Home says:

I would use them with my 2 daughters to make cards and wrapping papers for friends and family. My girls are just now getting old enough to want to do creative things and I’ve been trying to instill in them the desire to keep their hands busy with worthwhile things-not just parking in front of the t.v. or computer.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter the drawing-I know they will be a blessing to whomever wins them. :-)

  48. Misty says:

I have a wonderful son that is so passionate about people that he LOVES to help me make cards and send to friends and family…often for no reason. This is something that I have been encouraging since he was VERY young (he’s 8 now) and he still enjoys it. And he doesn’t mind making “girly” cards for those ladies that we so love! :o)

    Ooh…we hope we get a set! :o)

God bless you and all those entering!

    September 20th, 2008 at 6:12 pm

  49. Jessica says:

I love the first set! I have been stamping for about two years now and I love to make just the right card to send to a friend or loved one to brighten their day!

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

  50. Amanda says:

I would love to win either stamp set. I spend a lot of time with my daughters in my craft room. We makes cards together and give them to friends and family. My 6 year-old daughter always makes homemade cards to give to her friends at their birthday parties. She puts a lot of time into each one to make it a personal part of the gift.

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:38 pm

  51. Missy says:

My 8yo daughter & I make & send birthday/anniversary/get well cards to all of the members of our church & family at the beginning of each month and mail them the week of the event. She would love to have a new set of stamps to bless others with.

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:54 pm

  52. Jaime says:

I have every intention of making my own cards to send people but you know how that can often go in the life of a busy mom! :) but my children LOVE to stamp-they make papers and cards for EVERYONE! They are made with love despite how they look! LOL

    September 20th, 2008 at 7:58 pm

  53. Mom of 3 Peas says:

I’d love the first set to make thank you cards for folks that donate to my non-profit www.parkerspals.org

    September 20th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

  54. Karen says:

    Hey Laura,
What a great idea and so nice of you. I like both sets, and would probably use them for Homeschool fellowship projects. My boys aren’t really big into stamping, but hopefully we’ll be adopting a little girl soon, so maybe we can stamp together!

    September 20th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

  55. arbee says:

I love the sand dollar stamp! It reminds me of the legend of the sand dollar that i heard many years ago…don’t remember it exactly, but it was something about Jesus. Anyway, these would be perfect for my girls’ church group. We love making cards and giving them to people we love! :)

Thanks for offering these! Some neighborhood moms and I get together every month or so to stamp - fellowship and frugality make for a fun afternoon. It would be great to give these to our host and be able to share with everyone.

I love stamps! All of the kids would really enjoy those and me too! I used to have a lot of stamps and then we moved and I gave them to a nine or ten year old girl. I would love to start getting some again. It’s so fun to bless someone’s day with something you made just with them in mind. Thanks for hosting this giveaway and being so faithful with your blog. It blesses my day!

    September 21st, 2008 at 5:50 pm

  61. Melissa says:

Hi! I would love either of the sets, but the first one is my favorite! I am a Pastor’s wife of 3 churches and am always sending out cards. I also head up the women’s ministries of all three churches and could use the stamps at some of our Craft Days.

Thank you for the generous offer!

    September 21st, 2008 at 7:33 pm

  62. Melinda says:

    Laura what a generous giveaway.
My girls and I would use the stamps to make cards for our friends and family. The girls just love an art project and they especially love it when they get to use stamps. I could also use these when our girl scout troop makes cards to take to the nursing home.

    September 21st, 2008 at 9:07 pm

  63. Cindy says:

My daughter who is 10 years old would love something like this. She writes lots of letters to family and friends and loves doing creative things. Besides grandparents and friends her latest is to write her brothers at college.
    Thanks for the offer!

    September 22nd, 2008 at 6:27 am

  64. Kerry says:

    Hi Laura!

Thanks for doing the giveaway! Earlier this month, our 9 month old son and I made handprint cards for us to send to hs grandparents for Grandparent’s Day. I could foresee us using the stamps for similar projects…

  66. Stacy says:

My three children would love to use these stamps to create works of art to hang on our art wall (the refrigerator) and to give to others. Thanks for the chance to win!

    September 22nd, 2008 at 9:19 am

  67. Tiffany says:

Thanks Laura! Those are great stamp sets. My girls love to make cards and wrapping paper with stamps.

    September 22nd, 2008 at 9:29 am

  68. Terri says:

Thanks so much for the giveaway! I would love to win the second set. I am the leader of my daughters’ Girl Scout troop and we love making cards for the nursing home residents in our town.

    September 22nd, 2008 at 10:10 am

  69. Joelle says:

Oooooh, I love stamping. I love creating cards for birthdays and Christmas and other wishes. I love making my own cards because it shows love to people when they see that you cared enough to make them something - by hand! Not only that, but it is so much more economical to stamp cards. Store-bought cards are so expensive. Either set is fine, but the second set looks more like my taste.

    September 22nd, 2008 at 10:55 am

  70. Tamara Merritt says:

I love them both! Personally, I like the second, but with two DSD, being a good bonus Mom, I would have to pick number one for them LOL

My DH has been out of work since mid May, so there is no crafting money to buy new stuff, but I want to teach the girls to make things for gifts from the hearts.

Luckily, in my stockpiles, I have some markers, pencils, paint, paper and fabric, so we can come up with something!

Thanks for the chance to win.

Funny how I got here. Met Carolina Momma (blogspot) on SavvyDollar.org from doing triple coupons at Harris Teeter the past week…visited her blog, and she had a link to something on your blog, so I came to check you out.

  72. Abbey says:

I love to stamp. I’ve started working on creating cards to give at holidays rather than going to Hallmark, since I’m currently having to boycott them anyway! I’d also be able to use them in my 4th Grade Sunday School class to make different cards for people we pray for in our prayer journal. Thanks for a chance to win. (I got to your site through orgjunkie and now I’m hooked. I’m a SAHM for about a year now and am loving all your ideas.)

  75. Marianne says:

I’ve been trying to get into stamping, but honestly, don’t know where to start.

Since becoming a mom, and just beginning my walk with Christ, I have become convicted in raising my son with a servant’s heart. I had planned on beginning this by volunteering with the elderly. I think providing them lovely “thinking of you” cards could be a real ministry.

What a wonderful giveaway! My two kiddos love to make cards for everyone that they know. And now that my daughter is in first grade we are trying to teach her the importance of giving and helping those in need…even if it’s just a word of encouragement. We also want them to understand the importance of personal contact, not just sending out an email. A written note is much more encouraging and uplifting.
