Question #4

May 31, 2008

As I was considering today’s question, I gave thought to how much I am enjoying this way of getting to know you.  Thanks for letting me be a part of your lives.  Thank you for being a part of mine.

After reading Jayme’s post here and being very challenged by it to make the most of every five minutes of my life…I decided to ask you this:

In your opinion, what do you think is a big waste of five minutes?

I have two things. Arguing with your kids over something that doesn’t really matter…and holding unforgiveness.

  5. Lenetta says:

    1) Sitting right here in front of the computer too much and
    2) Thinking about something and/or avoiding it rather than just doing it. If I’d have just gotten started on it, I’d be almost done already! [she says as the dishes languish on the kitchen counter.]

  6. Brea in Texas says:

    1) Sweeping while my children are awake. I’m not talking spot sweeping, like if (hypothetically) a whole container of glitter falls on the floor. I’m talking the whole dining room, or all downstairs … it’s like trying to herd cats. It’s utterly pointless, and I can get it done as soon as everyone’s in bed. :)

    2) Feeling sorry for myself. I’m sorry, I’ve got much better and more productive things to get done.

I like this question! I love getting little peeks into other’s lives!

Oh, everyone has such good answers. I have to say ditto to them all!

Here’s one of mine - every time I tell my kids, “just hang on, let me finish this ONE thing”, while I’m sitting at my computer and they are vying for my attention…. that is five (or many more) minutes lost with them that I can’t get back.

  9. mama says:

The computer takes up way to much of my time.
And not listening to the kids when they have something long to share. I’m always in a rush to do other thing.
Wow, I need to work on that.

    Great question!

I’d have to say trying to sing while eating crackers…it really doesn’t work :)

Fretting about the past and worrying about the future. RIGHT NOW is hard enough!:-)

  12. Laura says:

Worrying - it accomplishes absolutely nothing.

Oh, and having to sit at the stop light w/o being able to turn right on red b/c the person in front of you decided at the last minute that he wanted to go straight instead of turning right and wound up blocking the right turn lane. Yeah, that’s a really bad waste of time on Sunday morning when you’re already running behind on your way to church.

  13. Joelle says:

Sitting in Southern CA traffic is a huge waste of time around here. Fortunately, I don’t have to get on the traffic-filled interestates to come to work.

Planning, forever planning. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

If you don’t get up, do, visit, go, be… what have you really done? Nothing.

(she says as her own dishes and laundry coagulate in their piles)
