This weekend we’re off on a camping trip with some friends from church. Aside from feeling like I have to pack everything and the kitchen sink…I do enjoy camping. Once a year or so. And in nice weather.
Thankfully it’s going to be perfect weather this weekend! And…we decided that since we have it, we might as well take our concession trailer. We’ll have to sleep on the floor since of course it’s a concession trailer, not a camping trailer, but we figure it’s not much different from sleeping on the ground in a tent, right? AND…a concession trailer has a refrigerator, a stove and a sink! See…I am packing everything and the kitchen sink!!! Oh, yea for me. I can do dishes while I’m camping instead of bringing all home dirty to do when I get home!
So, think of us while we’re out enjoying nature and eating hotdogs and Doritos. (We are camping after all.) Hey, I packed grapes too… :)
Do you like to go camping? What kind of camping do you like to do? (If you’re a Holiday Inn kind of camper, I’d like to know about that too!)

I LOVE camping! But my idea of camping is borrowing our cousin’s 35 foot fifth wheel, so I have my own kitchen, my own bathroom and most importantly, air conditioning!

I like camping– sort of. I love all the daytime activities like cooking outside, hiking, playing in a beaituful shallow river with smooth rocks, and just sitting and talking. I also love the evening activities like sitting around a camp fire, roasting marshmellows etc… I can handle the bugs, and even packing everything, like the kitchen sink. Where my enjoyment of camping ends is…at bedtime. I want a bed, a bathroom and a floor. I like cabins, even prmitive as long as there’s a bed. I haven’t always been this way. I use to love to tent camp. Now…I leave that to my three who are boy scouts.

Like Andrea,I would love all the outdoor activities duirng the day and evening hours but when it comes to going to sleep at night I prefer a bed where there are no spiders/loud bugs, etc. to keep me awake. LOL!

Pre-baby, we camped one night at a time in a tent with a blow up airbed. I don’t like washing dishes, either, and I’m still a little bit afraid of my cast iron pan. I prefer either late spring or fall camping, so it isn’t too hot. It also stinks when you wake up in the morning and everything is SOAKED from dew. We haven’t camped since my daughter was born because she doesn’t seem to sleep very well outside of her crib.

We “camp” w/ my parents in their motorhome. Its an older, smallish motorhome, but at least it gives us a bathroom in the middle of the night, and beds to sleep in (though w/ baby#3 on the way, by next summer someone’s going to have to sleep in a tent, I’m hopeful that the big girls will think it’s fun to stay in a tent, and Daddy’ll get stuck staying w/ them, so baby & I can have the bed inside LOL), and an oven, fridge, etc.

We grew up camping at a big lake, sleeping in a tent, at least once a summer with our church family. So much fun… but now that I’m the mommy… SO MUCH WORK!
We’ll resume a camping tradition once our littlest ones aren’t so little…

I personally hate camping.:( I have a LOT of seasonal allergies and it’s just a nightmare of sneezing, runny nose and asthma attacks the entire time. I have a lot of horrible camping memories, since we went camping just about every weekend in the summer when I was a kid. I remember a lot of emergency room visits too…and then right back to the camp site. Ugh!

We like camping… in a motel. I used to camp as a kid, but I don’t think my husband is into it. (Yet. We don’t have a tent and only I have a sleeping bag anyway). So when we go out to national parks, etc., we try to get a motel with a mini-fridge and microwave. We also take a hot-pot that boils water and instant soup bowls, homemade bread, sandwich makings, cereal, and other food easy healthy food options.

I loved camping when I was a kid and didn’t mind getting dirty, and mom did all the prep and clean up work. As an adult?? I hate it. And The Colonel says he did enough camping in the service that he’s never doing it again.
I still like to be outside and hike and have campfires, but I’ll be returning to the comfy hotel at night, thankyouverymuch. =)
Hope YOU guys had fun, though!

I’ve been camping one time, as part of an outdoor recreation class in college 12 years ago. It was completely miserable. Hiking a couple of miles into the forests with homemade backpacks (another assignment from the class) in 90 degree weather with a bunch of people I didn’t know or particularly like….crammed 4 people into a 3 person tent during a huge storm (later learned that a tornado was near our campsite), oh, and got covered with poison ivy that took a month to clear up.
My husband likes camping, but the first 2 years of our marriage he was deployed with the Army most of the time, and since then we’ve had babies….camping with infants is NOT my idea of a good time. Maybe in a few years.

Just wish there was a bathroom in that concession trailor
Otherwise…it’s pretty perfect! I like to camp…if it’s in our backyard with close access to home
Hope you have a great trip and can’t wait to hear all about!

Laura! Matt told Trent and I about your blog this weekend on the soccer trip. I’ve checked it out and I LOVE it! We just started one a couple of weeks ago. We’ll see how it goes, but I will definitely be reading yours from now on!!

We just got back from camping, last night. We spent Fri, Sat, and Sun in the forest with no running water, no electricity! We camp in a tent and sleep on the ground, huddled together in total darkness. We have a lot of camping gear that makes life easier than having nothing at all. Things like a lantern, a coleman stove and a folding table. But, for the most part - we’re roughing it. My boys refused to wear shoes for most of the trip. We went waterfall climbing, trout fishing, and took some great family portrait photo ops. It was excellent. Hope Y’all had fun!

Oh my. I looove camping. It was one of the main things, as a young girl and woman, I dreamed of doing with my children one day.In a tent or a trailer — in the wilderness where you boil your own water or dig a hole to use for a toilet, or in a more developed campground. A raft turned over is a wonderful way to sleep under the stars. Hotels are fine when needed. But give me the outdoors and camping ANY day!

My family loves camping. We were backpackers before our daughter but now we have a popup. Which has everything but an indoor bathroom. I absolutely love it. We have met some really nice people and seen some really beautiful places. My daughter and I both have asthma so we have to be careful but I just make sure that we are juiced up on our allergy meds and we are good to go.
