It All Adds Up

February 29, 2008

A couple of months ago, I began babysitting for two extra little ones.

Very part time.

I felt like it was something I could do to help out a little.

At first…I felt like I was working very hard for very little pay…and asked myself…is it worth it?

I certainly didn’t want it to take away from my own family’s needs.

Not for the tiny bit of extra income it provided.

But, now we’re into a nice little routine with it…and my kids take turns helping and playing and chasing the little ones.  They are learning more ways to serve…

So that in and of itself has made it worth it.

The families that we are babysitting for have both voiced their satisfaction with the comfort they feel knowing their babies are safe in our care.

And, the amount that I get paid per hour?  Well, it all adds up.

I can make that extra cash go a long way at the store.

And I feel so grateful that God always provides…even in these little ways.

It always adds up to big blessings.

I babysit an eight-year-old girl. I didn’t ask the mom for much per hour, because I know she doesn’t have it. My reward, besides a little extra pocket money, is having a little girl to bake cookies with and tell about sewing and crocheting. It’s like having a grand-daughter!

I did daycare for 5 yrs before I quit to help hubby with his business. Granted I enjoyed the children but I really liked being home. Just be carefully not to over do it. You will get burned out. Some kids just don’t care and so do the parents how they treat your house. It isn’t worth any money. But if pt is all you do then you should be fine. I don’t mean to sound negative but I hate to see things go wrong when we struggle to stay home with our children for the good life. As long as things go well it can be a blessing.
