Three out of four of my boys were sick over the weekend…
But Justus, my eight year old, had more than just a fever and body aches…
He had a miserable ear ache…and a plugged up ear.
Which meant that his “bad hearing” was more than just “selective” hearing. (You know the kind of hearing that comes and goes depending on if I’m asking him to pick up his toys….or asking him to come eat some ice cream…)
He really couldn’t hear me.
“Justus…do you want me to peel you an orange? Justus? JUSTus. Hey buddy…can you hear me?”
(nothin’)
Poor guy.
So, I quickly did what I always do when any of my kids have ANY ear issues.
I called my chiropractor.
I am NOT kidding you…the ears were night and day different after a chiropractic adjustment. Within MINUTES…Justus could hear better…and his pain was MUCH less.
The adjustment always helps the excess fluid in the ear to drain…thus relieving the pressure and pain.
Now…if only our chiropractor would do something about that “selective hearing”…

I’ve thought about this. We have a pediatric chiro that offers free adjustments to children 12 and under. Might be worth looking ito! Thanks

I’m thinking it’s about time to go visit mine too- my back is starting to hurt again… I wonder if an adjustment would help with allergies at all? Anyone know???

Thanks for the reminder. I used to go to the chiro regularly and then I moved and haven’t been bothered to find a new close by - but my ear has been blocked for quite awhile and driving me nuts.

To answer Suezque…YES!! I take my kids in for chiropractic adjustments for allergies too! My theory is this: The spine is what connects the brain to…EVERYTHING in our body to send correct messages to make it work right. When it is in alignment…it can send the right messages much more efficiently.
So…we go to the chiropractor for just about anything that is bothering us. (Uh, physically bothering us, that is…)

I’ve done this before, a side benefit is that the sick child will often come home and sleep 6-8 hours straight. more sleep = more opportunity for the body to heal itself.

I love our chiropractor. And he has helped my 7 month old son tremendously.
At 3 months old, he would wake up screaming in the middle of the night every 45 minutes - 1 1/2 hours. Inconsolable screaming. And he wouldn’t nap longer than 45 minutes. After one adjustment (his neck was out of alignment badly), he slept for 2 hours straight and never woke in the night screaming again.
My pediatrician couldn’t believe at our last checkup that he hadn’t had as much as a snotty nose over the winter since the flu and RSV had been really bad here. I attribute part of that to taking him to the chiropractor.
We don’t go on a regular basis, just now and then. I tend to need to go more often than he does because I’m the one lugging him and all his junk around. But I am a firm believer in finding a good chiropractor!

This is a fantastic tip! I love my chiropractor and have discovered the wonder of his ability to fix just about everything but I’d never thought of ear problems! Makes total sense! Thanks.

I have never heard of using a chiropractor for ear troubles. I have had ear problems ever since I can remember, and even had my tonsils and adnoids removed, but my ear troubles haven’t gotten better. I’ll have to look into this.

This is so true!
I’m hoping we’ll get back into the habit of going to the chiropractor soon.
