Every day we have to make decisions. And some of them are hard.
Matt’s boss is looking at possibly moving soon, although we don’t know how soon. We’ve know about this possibility for a while, so for several months, Matt and I have been talking about our future…what would be best for us to be doing as a family as we raise our boys into godly men…what ministries our family should be involved in that would work for our family as well as be a benefit for God’s kingdom…
And also, we need to be able to make a living, so that we can eat and all that stuff.
There are so many good ideas, so many great things to think about…so many hurting people out there who need love from Christians and the hope of Jesus. So whatever we choose or whatever job works out for Matt, we know that it will be one that will glorify God.
And because of that…I’m not even worried. I don’t have stress over the fact that Matt may need to find another job soon. (Okay, maybe I have a little stress…but mostly I don’t.)
When I look at all the ways God has continually taken care of our family…ways He has provided for us and given us more than we even need…I can’t help but feel peace about it. My husband is a hard worker full of ideas and vision for our family. (BTW, for those of you local readers…we feel pretty strongly that God wants us to stay here. Just so ya know.)
So, while we know we’ll be making some tough decisions in the near future, we know that God takes the pressure off by opening and closing doors as He sees fit. And that’s a really good thing, since we really have no idea what direction we should be taking.
We’ll just pray and listen and wait and watch for His direction. I’m so grateful that really and truly, God’s yoke is easy and his burden is light! He knows the plans he has for us!
Why, it’s all rather exciting, isn’t it!

I had to start singing “my yoke is easy my burden is light, He loves me so, He loves me so!!” I will pray that God will guide you down the path He wishes you to be on!

I love your attitude Laura. You are so right, it is the only way to view all of the decisions in our lives. At the end of the day, it’s all in God’s hands. And that really is exciting! I pray that His will be made clear for you and Matt.

thanks for the encouragement not to worry!
so… I made your whole wheat bread yesterday — do you freeze a loaf, or does your family eat it so quickly that you don’t need to? I’m wondering if I can freeze it, and for how long? Thanks!

Whew.
Back when I was single, I remember feeling almost overwhelmed with the possibilities when I was looking for a new job, in a new location. I could go anywhere and do anything! (The joys of being a business major.)
I wish the same overwhelment (is that a word?) for Matt and you, except for the go anywhere part. :>)

Praise God for your encouragement! It is so easy to be caught into worrying about things. I pray that God will guide Matt when it is time to the job He wants him in.
Have a blessed day!

Laura,
As you know, Steve has changed multiple jobs/ministries over the years. NE to IN to NE to TX to NE to IN to NJ… We did what you are doing and every time we were convinced that where we ended up was “a God thing”! Thank you for listening and letting God take the lead. I will pray for you!

Laura-
What a wonderful attitude you have! You are such an example to all of us worry warts out here! Even though the military life has it’s ups and downs we always have a paycheck :).
Well, of course with the way the government is going, who knows about that one! lol!
Seriously though, love your spirit! You are an inspiration!

I totally understand what you are saying. I am experiencing something kind of similar. God is opening doors that I never even considered before. I am learning to trust His leading, as He will never lead us astray.

I’m thankful that I’m not working at home and that it is (mostly) working out to actually get in a 7 hour work-day and be there for my son and still get some sleep! I’m thankful that I can bring in a paycheck and be at home. Someone called this a work-at-home mom, course all moms are working moms, but you know what I mean.
And to you specifically Laura, I’m thankful that you feel confidence and peace that the Lord will continue to provide purpose and paycheck for your family. (btw, are you sure he isn’t calling you to Southern California?!?) I’ll be praying that Satan doesn’t needle his way through your confidence in God, as well as for Matt’s job possibilities.

Just teasing you.
Isaiah 30:18-19 …for the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for Him to help them…he WILL be gracious to you if you ask for help.
That promise…which I’m riding on…is stuck right up on my fridge. He is a faithful God full of unfailing love.
Love you.
