Another Giveaway!!! Gather Up the Whole Family!

November 7, 2008

Smart people are all around us.  (Yes, I’m talking about you.)  I love how everyone has unique talents and I love watching to see how they use their talents.

One particular smart person, Jen, has used her talents to create a wonderfully awesome tool for organizing, listing and keeping track of prayer requests called Legacy Prayer Journals.   The journals come in a kit…with over 20 templates that you can print out as many times as you need to and use how ever you want to.  Read all the details about the Legacy Prayer Journals here.

The really, really cool thing about using these templates is that you can use them to create a scrapbook of prayer for your family.  I love that you can snuggle up together as a family to fill in the pages…then put the pages into a scrapbook with pictures and embellishments if you want to.

I also love that the pages are loaded with scripture and key words to get your minds thinking about spiritual needs and praises.

Jen is SO NICE because she SENT ME a Legacy Prayer Journal to use with my family!!!  YAY for me!

And YAY for YOU because she sent me TWO more Legacy Prayer Journal template disks for this giveaway!!!  Isn’t that exciting?!  You will love using these with your family!

Leave a comment on this post letting us know why you would be excited to win one of these Legacy Prayer Journals.  On Wednesday morning…I’ll randomly draw TWO winners!

Wow, this giveaway thing is fun!

My Favorite Chocolate Recipe

November 6, 2008

deathbychoco2sm.JPG

To celebrate my Website-Aversary…I’m sharing my favorite chocolate recipe with you.  This recipe is actually in my What to Do With the Cocoa in Your Kitchen ebook (which is part of the Heavenly Homemaker’s ebook special…have you grabbed yours yet?!)…and it is SO GOOD.

I guess that’s why it’s called Death By Chocolate.  What a name.  I didn’t name it.  I’d have named it something like A Little Piece of Chocolate Heaven.  Or Just When You Think It Can’t Get any Chocolatier.  Or Chocolate Covered Chocolatey Chocolate

Well…anyway.  Death By Chocolate is a recipe my mom found somewhere when I was a teenager.  I remember her serving it when she wanted to make something special for company.  She always put walnuts in hers…and I always picked ‘em out.  :)  I’m not a fan of nuts in my food.  But you can put walnuts in yours if you want to.  I’ll just pick ‘em out if I come over and share it with you.  (Which I’d love to do…come over and share it with you.)

As I remember also…the original recipe called for a box of brownie mix…a box of chocolate pudding…and a container of cool whip.  The way I make it now…it is all made from scratch.  And Oh. My. Goodness.  Do try it.  You won’t be sorry.

Death By Chocolate

Recipe for Creamy Chocolate Pudding
plus
Recipe for Fudge Brownies (with or without the chocolate chips)
¾ cup heavy whipping cream
½ t. vanilla
1 t. sugar or a few drops of stevia
1 cup pecans or walnuts, optional

Bake Brownies according to recipe.  Allow to cool.  Make Chocolate Pudding according to recipe.  Allow to cool.

In a large glass serving bowl, begin to layer your Death by Chocolate

deathbychoco4sm.JPG
Cut or crumble brownies into small crumbs or pieces.
I usually cut mine into one inch squares.
Place one third of them into serving bowl.

deathbychoco5sm.JPG
Pour one third of your pudding over the brownie pieces.
Continue this brownie - pudding layering twice more.

deathbychoco6sm.JPG
Choose the cutest person you can find to whip your cream.
With beaters, whip cream until soft peaks form.
Add vanilla and sugar or stevia.  Mix in with beaters.

deathbychoco3sm.JPG
Spread the whipped cream on top of your brownie-pudding layers.
If you’re talented and have time…put something fancy on top like put chocolate shavings.  As you can see…I’m not that talented.

deathbychoco1sm.JPG
Oh, but look how pretty that is!!

This is the very bowl my mom always made Death By Chocolate in.  I’m so thankful to have this bowl in my own kitchen now.

Okay…chocolate lovers!  Come up with some excuse to make this!!!  Invite someone over.  Have a party.  Invent a new holiday.  You HAVE to make Death By Chocolate!!  (Ooh, someone should invent a new holiday…JUST to celebrate CHOCOLATE!)

Anyone else a chocolate lover like I am?!

November 5, 2008

Well now…hasn’t this been FUN?!  And it isn’t over yet!

Let’s get ourselves reviewed and organized a bit about our Website-Aversary Week, shall we?

Past Website-Aversary Fun that you don’t want to miss:

  • Our new Holiday Ebooks will be offered for sale at an amazing sale price for just a few days!  Oh so much fun and spiritual encouragement for you and your kids as you prepare for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day!!

And now your PRESENT for today!!!

I’ve told you a time or two about one of the tools we use to train our kids in the way of Godliness.   We’ve created these Kid’s Character Charts to help us use scripture to encourage Christ’s character in our children’s lives.  Each chart has been created with a different focus in mind and each time we use them…we are all blessed.

Your gift today as we continue to celebrate our Website-Aversary….is a FREE Fruit of the Spirit Kid’s Character Chart!  Go get yours out of our shop (free until Nov. 13)…then print off as many charts and stickers for your family as you need!   Be sure to tell your friends to come get one too!  Enjoy!

Before you head off to the shop to get your Fruit of the Spirit Kid Character Chart…I’d love for you to leave a comment here telling me how you think you might use yours after you download it!   Or which fruit of the spirit you think your family needs to focus on right now.

C’mon…tell me RIGHT NOW.  HURRY UP!  WHAT’S TAKING YOU SO LONG?  LEAVE ME A COMMENT AND I MEAN NOW!  (see…that’s me needing to work on the fruit of the spirit: patience.)  Seriously…you’re taking forever.

  ;)

I am SEW Excited About THIS GIVEAWAY!!

You are SEW gonna want to be the winner of this.  (In fact…how can I be the winner of this?  What if I just close the comments and tell her that no one entered and that she’ll just have to send the prize to me?)

Okay…okay…I’ll let you play and I’ll just have fun watching.

This really cool gal named Denai has this really great etsy shop named Sew In Love.  Everytime I look at all her neat creations…I get all excited.  Really, her stuff is SEW neat!  (I’m thinking of these puns all by myself.    Okay, well, Denai thought of the name of her shop, but the other ones I came up with.  Aren’t you SEW impressed?)

Here’s what is so exciting!  YOU get to go into her shop…look all around and tell us here in the comments what you would pick if money were no object.  If you could have anything at all from your shop…what would you pick?

THEN…on Monday morning, Nov. 10 I’ll do a random drawing.  If you win…Denai will make you your very own personalized TOTE!  You will be able to decide what fabric you want and what you want printed on the fabric (like a photo or a verse)…anything you want.  She’ll make it special for you and have it to you before Christmas!

Isn’t that exciting?!

Okay…everyone go peek around the Sew In Love shop and come leave a comment telling us what your favorite thing is!

Happy Browsing!

Gratituesday: Election Time

November 3, 2008

gratituesdayholiday2web.jpg

Since it’s probably on all of our minds here in the U.S., I’ll take a little break from all the Website-Aversary fun to talk a little bit about election day.  (But do make sure you go sign up for giveaways and grab your freebies while you’re here!  Follow this link to catch them all.)

It’s FINALLY here.  Is anyone else just a little bit relieved that this year’s election is finally going to be behind us?

I have felt quite uneasy about the presidential election…as I know a lot of people have.  But here’s why I’m bringing it up and what I’m grateful for this Gratituesday:

God is in control.  No matter what happens and who is elected to be in charge of making decisions for our country…God is in control.  He is the one in charge.  No power is more powerful than His.  We have nothing to fear.

Any unease I feel about the election is wiped away when I remember the One loves me enough to send his son down to this earth to save me.

God is peace.  God is love.  God is good.  He is so, so good.
————————————————-
Please share what you are thankful for!  I’d love to make this the biggest Gratituesday EVER (this being my Website-Aversary week and all).  There are so many things to be grateful for!  Please take the time to write about it on your blog and come over and link up with us so that we can all read about how God is working in your life.  Read the details here…and join in Gratituesday!

Menu Plan for the Week (With a Special Gift for YOU!)

November 2, 2008

Oh how much FUN this week full of Website-Aversary celebrating is going to be!  (Did you have a slice of cake yet?)  Just wait till the end of this post.  There’s an awesome freebie waiting for you!

In other news, our friends who were here visiting last week have gone home.  Our time with them was filled with blessing..and CRAZINESS!!   My friend Deb is very…full of energy and spontaneous ideas.  We were home very little during the week…and off having fun and excitement instead!  Shew!  It’s a good thing I’m so good at being flexible <cough>.  ;)

With all of our gallivanting around…I hardly followed my menu plan last week.  I know… shocking.  Somehow with several rounds of concentrated controlled breathing exercises (breathe in , exhale, breathe in…) I survived the lack of schedule.  Really…it was so much fun and I loved it all!

This week…we’ll be boring and stick to the menu!  Oh wait…there’s nothing boring about this week!!  It’s our Website-Aversary Week!!  (Oh, and Matt’s birthday…I’d best not forget to also celebrate Matt’s birthday!  He’s been around longer than my website.  I’d like to point out that he is now as old as I am.  Not that it matters or anything for you to know that.  It’s not like he usually gives me a hard time about being three months older than him.)  :)

Sunday, Nov. 2
Oatmeal, fruit
Roast, carrots, potatoes, gravy
Whatever we can find in the fridge

Monday, Nov. 3
Whole wheat waffles
Homemade chicken nuggets and fries, carrots
Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas

Tuesday, Nov. 4
Fruit and kefir smoothies, toast
Taco potatoes, pineapple
BBQ beef, stir fried rice and veggies

Wednesday, Nov. 5
Orange muffins, bananas
Veggie soup, cornbread
Lamb chops, cheesy potatoes, green beans

Thursday, Nov 6 (Matt’s B-day!  I’ll fix some of his favorites!)
Biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes, scrambled eggs
Cheesy Turkey Sausage Stromboli, fruit salad
Chicken Fajitas, peach cobbler

Friday, Nov. 7 - Saturday Nov. 8 - We’re heading to Kansas for a quick trip to help my dad with an auction!  FUN!!

And now what you’ve all been waiting for!!!  Your special Website-Aversary Gift for today!!  And it’s all about menu planning and being organized!!!

My friend Char who blogs over at DigiScrapChat is a very talented designer and has made - JUST FOR YOU - a whole packet of wintertime planning fun for you to download…FOR FREE!!!  Isn’t she nice?  Check out all this neat stuff:
